Nick and the Shadow Monster is a delightfully playful children’s picture book. If you or your child like adorable characters, heartwarming humor, and learning to conquer fear, then you’ll love Jennifer Tremblay’s bump in the funny bone.
A fun take on the classic 'monster under the bed' concept, this adorable story is told from the monsters point of view. With creative illustrations, and a strong message, this story is a must have for every bookshelf.
Favorite Line: "It smells so earthy, pungent, with a hint of taco chip odor. Yum!"
Takeaway: When you're in your dark room, afraid of what's under your bed, just remember not everything is as scary as it seems. Friendship is sometimes found in the most unlikely of places.
This was a fun book! I like how it addresses fear in a simple, entertaining and hilarious way through this story. The shadow monster who loves to eat stinky socks is sure to make kids laugh and want to read this again and again 😂 the illustrations are so cute and unique. I enjoyed it a lot 😁
A cute monster book, about a shadow monster smelling something yummy..... a stinky smelly sock. He goes into the room with 2 twin boys, when 1 is woken and screams for his mom. In this book the monster isn’t scary at all. And he will return to his new friend to eat more stinky smelly socks.
Children will love this funny story told from the shadow monsters perspective. It reminded me of the way ‘Meg and Mog’ stories were written - very much with the child in mind; lots of fun and silliness. A lovely way to encourage a child to be unafraid of the dark and the shadows that lurk...looking for stinky socks!!
