"Artscience" talks about the confluence between art and science and what can be achieved when the two collaborate with one another (think: the birth of the tale of Frankenstein and quantum theory). This was genuinely fascinating, but some of the scientific talks definitely went over my head. It merits slow reading and if you're interested in following the exercises, which are interesting and would serve as a great 'cheat sheet' for some creative writing exercise (albeit a more scientifically-inclined one) or for teachers who want to start the children off with some interesting art-science thought experiments.
Writing-wise, I do wish that this was made more accessible by using more layman's terms since I thought this was too academic and a bit dry for the general public. But then again, that's all the more reason to look into this book sometimes. Getting out of your comfort zone should be a daunting task, otherwise you're not out of the zone just yet.
In any case, I love how thoughtful each chapters & exercises are put together, and you can tell how passionate the author is about the subject matter from the way this was written, so for that alone I do think this is worth flipping through chapter by chapter when you're in the right headspace for it. If the blurb of this book piqued your interest and/or you're curious about the topic of artscience, give this a chance and allow yourself to become confused (to paraphrase the author herself) -- at the end of the day, I promise you'll learn something new!
