Werner Herzog (born Werner Stipetić) is a German film director, screenwriter, actor, and opera director.

He is often associated with the German New Wave movement (also called New German Cinema), along with Rainer Werner Fassbinder, Margarethe von Trotta, Volker Schlöndorff, Wim Wenders and others. His films often feature heroes with impossible dreams, or people with unique talents in obscure fields.

The German text of the original screenplay to Werner Herzog's extraordinary film 'Fitzcarraldo' is presented here. There is no English translation, so if you are not fluent in German, obviously it will be difficult to follow the script.

But the great thing with this book is that it comes with more than 100 beautiful color stills (all with German captions) from the film and considering that Herzog's masterpiece is a very visual experience, this is reason enough to enjoy this publication.

Herzog, Klaus Kinski, Claudia Cardinale, the Amazon, an obsession all make for an absorbing, captivating study and wild film experience.
