Just completed Vishal Mehta & Cleverfox publishers’ presentation “7 tales to be remembered”. I’ll be very honest about the book, in my review. And the first thing I must say is I have mixed feelings about the book. The book, though not a masterpiece, is a good piece of literature. The author has worked beautifully with the dominant human emotions; like revenge, betrayal, love, hatred, and other thrilling topics like sci-fi and horror. It is not a long read as the author suggeste an it took me only 4 hours to complete the entire book. He is quite successful in presenting a precise and compilation of stories with independent plots.
As a first-time author, I believe Vishal has done quite a brilliant job. The author has provided a tour of the human mind, with all its merits and faults. No doubt his psychology lessons are paying off. Each story has a differnt theme, plot, setting and characters. The stories are from different time period as well. If I don’t stop here, soon I’d be talking about the characters. Which should not take place. Any information more I give, it’ll be a spoiler. So, not sharing anything about the story. You better get a hard copy or Kindle copy and read!
Since, I am not to give out any spoiler, let’s talk about other aspects. I’d like to specially point out the writing style. His writing style is a bit different and probably unique to himself; because I’ve never read anything with such style. I would also add, it would have been better if a little more research were put into the planning and plotting of some of the stories. Even though there are some errors, this piece of literature is far better than the crap which famous Indian English writers write.
This book is a compilation of 7 stories as the name suggests. Some are extremely interesting, and lacked that factor! But overall it is quite a nice book. Among these 7, my favorite story was “Cursed Hero of the War”. I would suggest translation to other languages; for starters to Bengali. You’ll not find any ardent readers other than this community.
