Garden and Cosmos: The Royal Paintings of Jodhpur

Rate this book
Garden and cosmos are metaphors for two cultural and aesthetic impulses at the Marwar court between the 17th and mid-19th centuries. Fifty-five newly rediscovered paintings from the royal collection of the Rathore dynasty of Marwar reveal the unique contributions of the Jodhpur-Marwar school of painting to the history of Indian art.

I was lucky enough to see the paintings in all their glory at the British Museum. This beautiful art book contains a stunning collection of Garden & Cosmos paintings. I love looking through the images and reading parts of the text.
