If I were rating this solely on how much I liked it, it'd be more of a 1, but that's because its depiction of the bullying ("ragging") was a bit too realistic for me - hello, middle school PTSD! But the book is very well written and the characters more interesting than you'd expect from an early 20th century series book, as is the action. I'm hoping for more scholarly antics and less ragging when Miss Dean becomes a junior...although I do appreciate Pauline Lester's honesty in depicting her social travails.
