As a fan of historical fiction, I absolutely loved reading indie author Clayton Van Hook`s debut novel, titled Something of This Time to Keep.
I found his theory about souls and past lives to be really interesting and romantic. I definitely agree with him when he says in the Preface that if encounter a person ferrying the soul of a lover from a past life, a kind of recognition may occur, often taking the form of blisteringly delicious and ungovernable attraction.
This incredible love story was written in such a way, I felt immersed in the experience and at times thought to myself that the story was so well written it could easily be turned into a film script, as it reads as though it was a movie playing out in front of my eyes.
Clayton writes beautifully, really capturing the essence of the time and sets the scene nicely. I really felt like I was there, in the middle of the story with the characters. I can highly recommend this book and I will be searching out more of the same from Clayton!

“Something of This Time to Keep” written by Clayton Van Hook is a fascinating love story of two people connected in a fantastic way. The story follows Anna and Dermot, two strangers that are bound together by destiny. Their paths join in a journey of discovery, inner growth, grief and healing that will change their lives forever.
The narration is emotionally powerful and it is complemented perfectly with detailed descriptions of places and historical events. With temporal and space lines that are intertwined and move back and forth, the novel gives readers a unique and wider perspective of the protagonists’ lives that will capture their attention from the very beginning. The construction of the characters is exceptional, they are imbued with convincing personal traits and emotions that make them very realistic and interesting.
I really liked this book and I highly recommend it. I hope I get to read more from this author.

When I started reading the introduction and I read the first sentence "All souls are created equal ...", it reminded me of the story of The Red String of Fate a lot and at that moment I knew I was going to love this reading.
Author Clayton Van Hook gives us this beautiful story where romance, historical facts and fiction come together.
In this book, we meet Dermot Foley and Anna Levet, whose lives collide in unexpected ways or at least they believe so. Fate will be in charge of letting them know that their meeting was not entirely unexpected.
I found “Something of This Time to Keep” to be a really charming book which I definitely recommend to all those people who believe that destiny is one of the main actors in our lives.

Something of this time to keep by Van Hook is a historical fiction written in a romantic way with a prose that can easily make everybody fall in love with life.
The narrative is penned in an original way that makes the reader go back and forth between the pages in order to line the sequences of events up.
What I absolutely loved about the book is the historical references and how actions are mingled with them. Each chapter is more captivating than the last one and the dialogues the author has included in the pages make the storyline more realistic and the readers feel closer to the characters.
I consider this book a masterpiece, I have enjoyed it a lot!

A memorable love story.
I must admit that at first, I found it difficult to follow the plot but when I did, I truly enjoyed it! “Something of this Time to Keep” is an intriguing and compelling novel penned by Clayton Van Hook.
While I was reading it, I felt amazed by the way the characters´ stories intertwined, in fact their souls did. The idea of connecting our past to our present through the well-known déjà vu is fantastic! I felt as if I were in a constant journey through the past. This is definitely a memorable love story.
It is a well-written and enjoyable book with dynamic characters. It´s a must!

What a ride! This book left me wanting more! “Something of This Time to Keep” is a novel about karma and reincarnation. It tells the story of Dermot Foley and Anna Levet who, after meeting, felt that they have known each other forever, and not only because the attraction is instantaneous, but also because they shared other lives. Is that really possible?
Something that I really liked about this novel is that the author mixes past with present and gives a visual inventory to continue the story. Also, the setting is presented with photographic details and the characters are well-thought, so I felt that I was Anna.
For these reasons, I would definitely recommend reading it.

This is one of those unique novels that, as reader, I will never forget. “Something of This Time to Keep” by author Clayton Van Hook is an exceptional book that, not only transported me to live a timeless love story, but also its lines imprinted on my memory, teaching me a new point of view about Karma´s resolution.
The love story of Californian Dermot Foley and Parisian Anna Levet weaves its roots much deeper than in their present, what makes them live a deep attraction, an undeniable desire.
This book will appeal to those readers who enjoy love and spirituality but also historical fiction. I liked this remarkable story very much and I will definitely recommend reading it.

What a great story with superb characters. I enjoyed every page of it in such a way that it was really difficult for me to put it down! It is amazingly written and it really kept me constantly wondering what will happen next.
This story has a relaxed pace, a positive tone and a very strongly character oriented storyline. Dermot and Anna are just so real that I could feel everything they faced as if I was with them.
The plot is a whirlwind of suspense, mystery, intrigue and danger that pulled me in from the very first page and never let go.
I highly recommend this work to any fan of thrillers, like me, I really enjoyed this read and all the twists and turns that come with it.
