Visit the Farm
In this story, JoJo is excited to show Gran Gran around the city farm - it's been a few months since she was last there, and she can't wait to see Melanie the chick again. But when they arrive at the chicken enclosure, they can't find the little fluffy chick - where could she be?
About the show
JoJo & Gran Gran is the first British-made animated show to feature a black family at its centre. It is based on characters created by Laura Henry Allain, whose own grandmother inspired the character of Gran Gran. Each episode shows a loving relationship a grandmother has with her granddaughter, a celebration of their shared world heritage and wonderful introduction to key preschool first experiences.
JoJo adores her grandma, Gran Gran, and they love to spend time together while JoJo's Mummy and Daddy are at work. Gran Gran always has something exciting planned when JoJo comes to visit.
Each picture book will retell the story of a well-loved TV episode, followed by a picture glossary and activity spread to encourage readers to take the themes from the book into their everyday.

One of my cousins told me about this new show and when deciding what to gift my little nephew for his birthday this year, I had to see if there was a book of it. I've yet to see the show, but I love the idea of this, especially as I hope it will remind him of my mum and myself (I used to work on a farm, in fact it's brought back the memory chick hatchery chat I did for one of the summer activities), so thought it would have a very personal touch.
This sorry was so adorable. I love how close JoJo and Gran Gran are. The art was lovely too. I really like the detail in the hair, it almost looks photographed and blended. There was a few educational bits in her too which was also appreciated.
This was a lovely story and I look forward to checking out the show and giving this to my nephew!

My little one and I love the "JoJo & Gran Gran" cartoons. There is actually an episode in the cartoon when JoJo and Gran Gran visit the farm and this book is faithful to that episode using images from that episode. There's a Picture Glossary at the start of the book to help with comprehension and expanding vocabulary and a fun Animal Noises exercise at the back of the book.

My 4 year old loves all of the JoJo and GranGran books. In this one he likes making the animal sounds.
From my perspective they have lovely artwork and tie in very closely with the show. The 'meet the character's at the start of the book is a nice touch, as was the activity at the back.
