I highly recommend this book to anyone who works with children…teachers, therapists, parents, etc. I liked that it thoroughly explained how and why RAD happens and included both the horror stories and the success stories. The one term that has stuck with me as a mom of two adopted child with RAD is “nurturing enemy”. Once you read the book, if you are parent who is on the receiving end of the push back all of the time, you’ll understand why that term makes perfect sense.
I loved this book, really gave me a lot of information about rad. Looking forward to her next book. Wish adoption agencies would educate foster parents and adoptive parents better
Wow. This book has been such a relief to read. It is one of three books I've read so far that are specifically geared towards parents who are raising a child with RAD. It is by far my favorite of the three. The author has clearly worked with children with RAD and understands how their minds work and the unique challenges that children with RAD present. While there are some topics in the book that are hard to read about as a parent, and ones that I hope we never have to face, this book prepares parents for the reality of parenting a child with RAD and helps bring back that sanity that so often feels lost.
