Daily family life in the USSR in the early ‘80s. A childhood memoir of “inheriting” a cat from the neighbours emigrating to Israel. Written from a child’s point of view, it gives a very sharp snapshot of the ridiculous ideological atmosphere of the late soviet regime, contrasted with normality and warmth of normal human relations. The first story by writer Gloria Mu, published in Russian in 2009, it was followed by a novel Vernutsia Po Sledam (Retracing the steps) that further explored family life and growing up in the late USSR.
