Exclusively available on Amazon Evolution - Book Two in the Masters Series (Series 4) After fourteen years in the British military, the last ten of them facing off with explosive devices meant to end the lives of his fellow soldiers and anyone who dared to get close to them, Aaron was looking forward to reconnecting with his closest sibling, and finding out what phase two of his adult life was going to be about. What he wasn’t expecting was to be caught up in a whirlwind within hours of arriving in Philadelphia, providing him with a home and a rewarding job that will nurture his soul. All he needed was the perfect, or even imperfect woman to make his life complete. Simple! Jessie’s life had been the sort of horror story you normally only found described in documentaries, and even then, you were left wondering how much of the tale had been embellished. Raised by an abusive father and handed over to an even more abusive husband in payment for a debt, Jessie’s life had been unbearable for the first twenty-two years of her miserable existence, until a moment of courage and opportunity had her running for her life with just her baby son and a few meagre belongings. Six years later, Jessie still can’t stand to be close to men, not unless it’s with the security of O’Connor’s three feet wide bar separating them. The only exceptions to the rule are old Bill, who works with Jessie every day, and Eli, her boss’s fiancé, who’s made her his honorary sister so he can watch over her and keep her safe. When she accidentally mistakes Aaron for Eli, the shock finds her flat on her ass as she jumps away from him, leaving the poor guy looking on in shock. It’s only as Jessie gets to know him, she realises how alike the two men are, and she starts to trust Aaron the way she trusts Eli. So, why is it she can’t seem to look at Aaron like a brother? As usual, if I could give this ten stars, I would! I am so glad you got rid of Patrick, self absorbed self appointed Victim! Jessie is amazing and so is Harry but I think Aaron is even more so. To come out of the forces after such a dangerous job and seeing everything he has seen, virtually unaffected compared to the extent of some of his favoured vets, including some of "the family", is amazing! It does however put him in the perfect position to handle Jessie's PTSD! His patience is endless and that's very hard to find, an admirable quality indeed! As for little Harry with the big personality and bigger brain, I think he's super and I can't wait for the next instalment! Good job well done! Well, I'm off to read it again!
What's going to happen with the twins? And what will happen with Mia? How can you end it with such a lovely story about the second one oldest but not get to the others. I'm interested in finding out about Damian an see if he can be "fixed" by the love of a good woman. Or if Mia can find a man strong enough to stand by her side. Jake how does he compare to Yuri when he falls in love? Can they forgive Eli and come to Philly since Patrick is gone. Does Patrick come around? 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
Jessie fears all men and feels her future is unsure. Arron's future is unsure since he left the military. He has come to be with his older brother Eli. From the first time he meets Jessie and see how skittish she is, he just wants to protect her and Harry. Great read! Beth Abbott catches your attention from the first chapter and you just need to see what is going to happen next.
Thoroughly enjoyed this second book of the series. All of the characters are well developed and absolutely loveable. Can't wait to meet the rest of the family in their own books.
