In his best-selling book, Gentle and Lowly, Dane Ortlund takes readers into the depths of Christ's very heart for sinners. Focusing on Jesus's words that he is "gentle and lowly in heart," Ortlund dives deep into Bible passages that speak of who he is, encouraging readers with the affections of Christ for his people.
This Gentle and Lowly book and study guide set is ideal for small groups and individuals looking to read the book and reflect further on these key biblical truths. The study guide features discussion questions organized into 10 lessons, with each lesson covering 2-3 chapters from the book. This set can also be used in conjunction with the Gentle and Lowly Video Study, sold separately.

It was a little repetitive, but made great points. Gentle and Lowly dives deeper into the character of both Jesus and God. We see that they are both merciful and are so perfectly gracious in their love for us. I love all the metaphors used to describe these characteristics.
Definitely a great read that I would recommend!
However, I personally do not recommend the study guide. It felt like I was being quizzed on what I read vs diving deeper into my personal walk and how I was applying these truths to my life… which I would have enjoyed more! That’s just me though (:
A good book and study on who God really is and His character. Here we see the mercy of God and the gentle and lowly Spirit of Jesus. A good reminder for all believers on the character of God.
Recommended by my dad, Gentle and lowly proved to be an encouraging read and did not miss the mark in what it intended to convey to readers: the heart of Christ. This book articulately analyzed passages of scripture related to the heart of Christ, and further emphasized His sense of tenderness, love for us, and all the more, his hate for sin. Gentle and Lowly reinforced my relationship with my creator as a safe place, for we are the desire of his heart.
