Elizabeth Warren (born 1949) is an American academic and politician, and the current senior U.S. Senator from Massachusetts and a Democrat. She is the Leo Gottlieb Professor of Law at Harvard Law School -- where she taught contract law, bankruptcy, and commercial law -- and devoted much of the past three decades to studying the economics of middle class families. In the wake of the 2008-9 financial crisis, she became the chair of the Congressional Oversight Panel created to investigate the U.S. banking bailout (formally known as the Troubled Assets Relief Program). In that role, she has provided a critical check on the U.S. Department of the Treasury and has been a leading advocate for accountability and transparency. Since 2007, she had advocated for the creation of a new Consumer Financial Protection Agency, which was established by the Dodd–Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act signed into law by President Obama in July 2010.

I was lucky enough to be at Elizabeth Warren's presidential kickoff rally in February of 2019 and at her Washington Square Park rally in September of 2019, right at the height of her campaign's popularity. Both of those incredible speeches are included in this collection of some of her most important from the campaign trail, and they transported me back to the moment I stood amongst thousands - cheering on the woman who I truly believed (and still do) would have made the best President of the United States this country has ever seen.

Like all of her speeches throughout her political career, the ones collected in this book are inspiring and motivating, and will make you want to get into the fight for a better future and a more equal and fair country for all. Warren's words (those of her speechwriters' too, I guess) will stick with you for a long time - as I know they will me. And when I need a pick-me-up - when I need to reaffirm my belief in this country and need a dose of optimism about the state we currently find ourselves in - I will turn back to this book repeatedly to bolster my spirits. I have no doubt you will too - which is why I give this book five stars out of five (with the caveat that I'd give it more if I could) and give it my full-throated recommendation.
