I love horror short stories and this collection is vast! Horror, sci-fi, creature feature and literary. The voices come out loud and clear and the author is solid on scene building. Some of the stories come across one noted, but not enough to make the story unreadable. With shorts, I won’t pick one over the other to review, but the range is 3.5 to 4.5. If I have a favorite? It’s the monster story novella at the end, unique creature feature of a myth become real. Read immediately and let me know what you think. This author is on my radar, and should be on yours too. Enjoy!

I am a fan of short story/flash fiction genre and some stories in this collection are just Wow. The stories are a mix of creepy and scary and story or 2 has an unexpected twist. A couple of stories deserve more than 5 stars .
The first story difficult but not Impossible sets a fantastic pace with sci-fi Horror with a great twist. Each chapter tells a great story in few words that sometimes cannot be said in a complete novel. Of all the stories only 2 stories were just not that I couldn't get into but rest were just awesome. This book cannot be classified in one genre.
A very good read.

I am still creeped out as I am writing this review. Every chapter has its own concept, and its own twists. Some are classic ghost stories reimagined, while others are dystopian scenes of science fiction. Whenever a story seems familiar, the author warps it into his own version. There are some stories in there with real re-telling value. I can see myself telling friends about some of the tales in this book, as I was impressed with nearly every chapter.

The title of this book got my attention full and when I started reading it, it actually becam and unputdownable for me.

This book Contains some chilling horror tales that will keep you hope with the book till the climax . What set this book aside from other books on the same genre is that author does not only write stories on Supernatural powers in order to give us the chills in the spine but only he introduces aliens, serial Killers in his stories.

Author's way of presentation is really appreciatable. I love all the stories But my favourite one is 'Skin Deep' .

Apart from these amazing engaging stories, there are 5 Poems and one amazing novel too.

All the poems are really good but my favourite one is 'Interlude'.

I must say that the language of the book is really lucid and easily understandable.
I really enjoyed every pages of this book and had an amazing time reading it.

It is highly recommended for everyone who is looking for something interesting to read.

Shape-shifting aliens bent on erasing the human species, charming and unsuspecting serial killers on a prowl, a world of anomaly where male children stopped getting conceived, highly vindictive ghosts and spirits, and a literal time traveler, A 12 Story asylum has it all.

An absolutely insane collection of short stories filled with elements of horror, mystery, science fiction, dystopia, and whatnot, this is one book that will never disappoint you. Each story is perfectly written with twists and turns one can never expect in such a limited length.

Highly recommended for all mystery readers as well as those who have just started exploring the genre. If you’re someone who has ‘commitment issues’ with long stories and never-ending books, then CARL V. DUPRE’s A 12 Story Asylum is just the pick for you.

⭐ Rating: 4/5
✅ Verdict: A collection of absolutely mind-boggling short stories that’ll keep you biting your nails till the very end.

“A 12-Story Asylum” by Carl V. Dupre is a collection of 12 short stories, 5 poems and 1 novella of varying quality that can be read while in free time and in a place where no one will bother you. I use collections of short stories such as this one in hopes of finding an author who gets my attention so engaged that I want to read more of their work.
.
This collection stood up to my expectations. From horror, to science fiction, and fantasy, the book has got something for every reader. The writing is accomplished and each tale distinctive and unique. The dialogue and self-reflection of some of the characters I found brilliantly entertaining. There are some great twists as well in many of the stories but also a few that were a bit abrupt. Overall, a good read!

Not a bad story in this book. Including the interlude which was surprisingly good poetry. The best stories where the book ends of Difficult But Not Impossible and Thingamabob! Not to say the others were not good. Every story was extremely well paced and well written. It kept you glued from beginning to end.
