Seventeen-year-old Hala has decided to die. It seems like the only solution after years of abuse, a missing father, and living in a wasteland in the heart of the Midwest. Eager to end it all and yet too anxious to actually do it, she buys herself time by writing a series of songs that serve as a memoir for her short life.
Little does she know, her book of songs is found in another world. Twenty-four-year-old Deena picks it up on a cold New York night, and decides to bring the songs to life. Unbeknownst to Deena and Hala, the music connects their worlds in an inexplicable way. Soon, shadow people haunt them, they journey to strange worlds, and time and space lose the meanings they once had. As Hala finds herself trapped between universes, she must travel within the darkest parts of herself in order to be freed.
A fantastic, beautifully written book that makes you think deeply about how one simple decision can create ripple effects and that everything is truly connected. Playful, intriguing, unique, and very impressive for the author’s debut novel. I can’t wait to read more by Deena Helm!

Compassionate, dramatic, and deeply moving, A song of entanglement takes readers to the roots of human behavior-to innocence and experience, kindness and cruelty, love and hatred, humor and pathos. I’m so glad I reread A song of entanglement. I can't describe in words just how much I loved it. There is so much about it that is timeless , it's storyline , plot , characters. If by chance you haven’t read this book, I highly recommend that you do.
