Mina Kane #5

Code Teal

Rate this book
Even crafty ex-marshals need help in 2105.

Agent Mina Kane discovers that her pal, ex-marshal Norm Webb, is missing. It’s unusual for a highly trained agent to disappear into thin air, but that’s exactly what he does. Mina tracks down an old case, a likely candidate who was recently sprung from a box and happens to be a deviant who enjoys cruelty. But waiting the mandatory forty-eight hours to make this op official might prove too deadly for Norm.

While investigating the ex-marshal’s whereabouts, Mina and Lee, with help from a certain colonel from France, discover that the suspect has ties to the Syndicate, and things get hotter than a comet trailing toward Earth. Before any action takes place, Mina and Lee get called back to headquarters to participate in an audit. The higher-ups are suspicious of their recent headlining cases, so they’ve launched an inquiry. But it quickly becomes clear that their intentions are not on the up and up.

It’s not every day your rookie partner gets a commendation. Go, Lee!

I enjoy this series so much. It's been really great watching the characters develop throughout the series, and getting to see the friendships grow, and the rookies gain experience. Mina and Lee are an outstanding team as always, plus now we are getting to see more of Kaylee (Mina's old partner and best friend) and Harmony- a brand new rookie agent and former hacker. and our favorite Colonol of the French Protectorate, and Mina's childhood friend, Vince Kramer, keeps finding ways to get involved with Mina, or she keeps finding reasons to need him on her missions. I just love this fun, intriguing futuristic crime series.
Code Teal picks up right where Vid Star left off, and the cases they were working in the last book carry over into this book, along with a few new things happening. I really like the way that Amanda Carlson weaves the different stories and cases together, there's so much happening, without feeling like you can't follow. It's very easy to follow, and really easy to read and get caught up in.
The ending in this one made me very happy, but also leaves room for more to come. I can't wait to see what happens next

I’ve been a fan of this author for years, and I must say that this series is edging up there as one my favorites. Mina is a great character, and she’s actually shown a lot of growth since the beginning of the series, and so have the other characters. One thing I love about this series is how it seamlessly goes from one book to another with no pauses. Yes, there is a finishing of an arc, but there’s always hints of what’s coming up in the next. This latest has Mina looking for her old friend Norm, and it’s a fun ride finding him. This is a great, well-written, mystery series sure to please many fans. Highly recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

I don't normally quote books when I review them, but I couldn't resist using that description. I'm going to start incorporating it into my everyday vocabulary. It also describes this book perfectly. Please be aware that this series is made to go in order. Each book picks up almost at the exact time that the last one ended, so reading them in order is the only way to fully enjoy them. Also, I really hope this series goes on for a very long time! It's one of my absolute favorites for so many reasons. The characters are quirky and interesting, and super smart. I love that each of them could stand on their own in any situation, but when you put them together they become unstoppable. I love the imaginative futuristic world and the detailed description. It's very easy to see myself in the settings and I long for some of the tech. Another thing I love is the relationships between the characters and the way they change over time. The cases are well-thought out and finding out the bad guy isn't the end of the story. There is a much bigger picture and the way things tie together keeps things interesting. Each story has it's own crime that the team is trying to solve, but things are so much more complex. That complexity is why I immediately start longing for the next book when I hit the last page. These books are also the only ones where I read the snippet for the next book that is at the end of each one. I want to hold on to that excitement just a little bit longer. Another fabulous thing is the personal connections the different characters have to each of the stories. The mission in this one is personally tied to each of the characters and that upped the suspense. It was fast-paced and emotional from the very beginning and I couldn't put it down. There is more danger ahead and I have a lot more questions that I can't wait to find the answers for. I'm excited to see where the relationships go and how deep the danger lies.

If you love a good mystery, fabulous characters, imaginative worlds, and incredible writing then this this series is one you won't want to miss.

AMMMMAAAAZZZIIINNNNG!!!!!!

Amanda is one of my fav authors! So far I haven't read anything of hers I haven't liked - no matter the genre. This series though is a favorite. I mean who doesn't like a tough girl with a soft side. Mina's cases are riveting and fun - sometimes even laugh out loud funny - literally! In this one she's got a little more "romance" and I LOVE IT!! I'm so rooting for them. I also love that even though Mina is a bad*** she tries to always do the right thing. She cares about people and still sees good even though she has run ins with lots of not so good people. I can't wait until the next book comes out and we get to know Mina and friends even more. If you haven't read this series I for sure recommend reading them ALL.

This great story picks up where Vid Star left off. However, Norm is still missing. Will Mina and Lee find him in time? Read to find out! This story wraps up well, even though it leaves a hint as to the next book to come. Some great moments for Lee - adore his character!!

Loved this continuation of Mina and Lee. They work so well together and they have to figure out where the spider has disappeared. While it’s an informal op to begin with they do some great things to find what they need. Absolutely love these books. They make me laugh, cry, think, and just be free.
