Rate this book
Germ cell tumours are rare, but efforts on many fronts over the last two decades have led to high curative sucess rates - to the extent that they have been described as 'a model for a curable solid tumour'. In an attempt to disseminate knowledge as well as bringing together clinicians and scientists working in different fields of scientific endeavour, the conference will examine many facets of germ cell tumours. There will be specific sessions on aetiology and biology with reference to molecular biology and genetics, the natural history of treated disease and serum tumour markers. the relationships between these tumours and testicular maldescent, cryptorchidism, carcinoma in situ (CIS) and declining semen quality will be explored. Aspects of the clinical management of seminoma and nonseminomatous tumours of the testis will be examined, expecially radiotherapy, surgery, chemotherapy, imaging, morbidity of therapy and quality of life issues. there will be sessions on mediastinal, central nervous system and paediatric germ cell tumours.
