A Kind of Tragic

Rate this book
Rude, crude, and immensely funny!

She's the perfect poster girl for how not to be and what not to do in life. Every day is an epic fail with calamity around every corner. She's a dreamer. A schemer. A complete chancer, totally winging it with no life plan and just hoping everything will somehow work out... but who says you can't be the world's biggest ninny and still win?

Lizzie Bradshaw's two great loves in life are donuts and Dan Elliott, her devilishly handsome co-worker and hers is one brutally honest and hilarious account of unrequited love that you do not want to miss.

Guys like Dan Elliott wouldn't usually look twice at women like Lizzie, let alone date them. But what if there was a way to change the odds and turn fate on its head, even with the supermodelesque new starter at work also vying for Dan's affections? (Cow!) It all seems too good to be true, but sometimes, all is not as it seems and Lizzie might just be about to discover she can have her cake and eat it; in more ways than one!

Disclaimer: not suitable for prudes, puritans, sticks-in-the-mud, goody-goodies and/or the easily offended. May cause laughter-induced bursts of incontinence.

Warning: Page-turner. Highly addictive. May need to put entire life on hold whilst reading.

This was brilliant and LOL funny. Lizzie the FMC is like Rebel Wilson meets Bridget Jones meets Bridesmaids...she definitely puts the "com" in rom-com. Those of a sensitive nature should avoid but if you love British humour then this is a must-read. Off to download book two in the series to find out what happens next!

There's a disclaimer on the this book that states it's not for the easily offended! I certainly wasn't offended; it was hilarious. Yes, some of the subjects tackled included taking excessive laxatives to hasten weight loss, but it was (sort of) relatable and so very funny. I could definitely relate to her work struggles, being late, hating your job etc.
I liked the main character, Lizzie, her battles with her self image, her unrequited love obsession, her domineering, snobby mother. All highly entertaining.
I knew this was the start of a series and that the other books haven't been published yet, which is a shame because I would have bought the next one immediately after finishing the last page of this one.
Definitely not for prudes, etc, but laugh-out-loud and cheered me up no end! Recommend!
(There was no 'sticky' sex in it, so 'cleanish'.)
