Laura Kendrick was born in Manchester, England. The Boy Who Sparkled was her debut collection of short stories (removed due to much needed edits after a sharp learning curve about publishing ebooks). She is currently working on two novels - fantasy adventure, Silverdeer and YA Fantasy, Collarless (which will form the basis of her dissertation).
Alongside writing she is the proud owner of four Guinea Pigs and a Hamster, the complete collection of Diagnosis Murder Episodes (thank god for Tivo!) and Books.

Silveerdeer has the feel of the adventure movies I grew up on and from start to finish it is hard to catch your breath, Kendrick has created a world rich in its own mythology and fantasy creatures which will create visceral reactions in you. As I reader I find it difficult to picture worlds and characters but as I read, I found I was with Anna throughout because this book is so incredibly visual and written with such imagery, depth and texture.
Her cast of characters come off the page from the ambitious, curious and green Anna, who I related with so hard I felt slightly attacked all the way through to the tragically misguided Benedict because the are all human and that is what sets, 'Silverdeer' apart from other fantasy adventures I have read - its heart, it may be brimming over with adventure, intrigue and mythology but at its center it is an incredibly human tale of looking for acceptance in a world that gives you little
It is a fast paced, trope subverting, women championing fantasy adventure and is exactly what the world needs right now.
The Chronicles of Silverdeer is an imaginative, exciting adventure. Once you pick it up, you won't be able to put it down. It is impossible not to fall in love with the main character, Anna, as she chases the adventure she's always yearned for and finds the self she always knew she was. Along the way, she makes some fabulous friends and conquers some wild creations of the authors imaginative mind. Unique, creative, and a ball of rip roaring fun, this story will not disappoint any reader.
A great adventure book that is fast paced and will leave you wanting to read the next one! Has some really lovable characters that make you want to learn more about their lives!
Can't wait to see how the characters relationships develop in the next book and to really see where the author is planning on taking the book!
