Able and Mighty Men: A Biography of the Signers of the Declaration of Independence, and of Washington and Patrick Henry

Rate this book
In this book, first published in 1838, a short biography of each signer of the Declaration of Indepence is given. As the author writes in the first biography, these were "able and mighty men," venerated without exception for their boldness, foresight, and unwavering devotion to liberty. Each signer is given a full biography, some longer, some shorter. This updated release includes photos, signatures, and footnotes where applicable. The original publication's appendix is included as well, featuring the first draft of the Declaration of Independence, Washington's Farewell Address, the Articles of Confederatin, and the United States Constitution. This is a valuable history book, packed with not only the biographical information of 56 great men, but also the beautiful commentary of L. Carroll Judson. His observations on human behavior and liberty are without equal. Able and Mighty Men is part of the Knowldge Keepers Home Library Series, devoted to bringing old history books back into print, and encouraging families to build home libraries for posterity.
