The Travel in Between by Chloe Stevenson was a really enjoyable story about a twenty-six-year-old woman who has found herself back at her parents' home in Canberra, Australia after years of traveling the world and living her dream. Claire Baxter, the heroine of this story, feels she’s not moving and her life is at a standstill. One day on a visit to her Nan, she inherits her grandparent’s 1968 Kombi Van named Frank. Inspired by her grandparent’s travels across Australia in Frank, she embarks on a mission to return Frank to his former glory and take him on her own adventure across Australia. Surrounded by family, friends, and her own love struggles Claire has some unexpected realizations.

Written in the third person, this book is more than just a romance. It's about a young woman discovering a new direction surrounded by her family, friends, and love interests. I thoroughly enjoyed this book -- from the cover, which is stunning, to the characters, which were so funny and relatable. This book has drama, romance, humor, and just about everything one could want in a romantic comedy. I loved Claire’s character development and her relationships with the other characters. Claire’s relatability made her my favorite character. The plot is light, and the story is very engaging. I could not put it down.

The Travel in Between is a romcom and modern twist of Pride and Prejudice. I become ecstatic when I discover reads set in a country I live in; it's my third book I read so far set in Australia. In the first few pages, I did struggle a bit to get into the story. However, I was pleasantly surprised how it picked up; it's definitely a unique lovely storyline! And I really enjoyed how the plot unravelled. Claire (heroine) is a great character! And as I turned each page, I liked her even more. Chloe Stevenson did a brilliant job in portraying her character; Claire's adventurous, quirky, funny and caring. Even though she is feeling a bit lost and unsettled in her life, she has (or tries to have) a positive outlook on life. She has a wonderful relationship with her friends and family, their dynamics are amazing! I was really impressed how the author also focused on her friends; their interactions with each others at times were heartfelt and out right funny! They are certainly a fun trio! I loved seeing her platonic relationship with George, especially when their relationship started to evolve.  You'll see Claire's journey as she navigates through the ups and downs in her life, as she plans her next adventure awaiting in the horizon.

Claire Baxter's dream was to travel around the world; she has a passion for travelling. She reached her dreams, visiting far away destinations and sightseeing exotic places. After living abroad for a few years, Claire decided or more like "had to" return home; returning to her life in Canberra, Australia. Claire is always "on the look out" for her next adventure, but ever since she returned home she's restless, a feeling she can't quite describe. She now finds her life a bit dull compared to the fast pace adventurous lifestyle she was living before.  Claire's grandfather past away a few years back, and her grandmother decided to give her late husband's Kombi van AKA "Frank" to Claire. Everyone is aware how passionate Claire is about travelling; she's a wanderer, it's a part of her identity. As she gets on with her everyday life working in a coffee shop, catching up with her best friends while living in her parents backyard's granny flat, Claire suddenly found a new purpose. She's going to restore Frank, and once she completes her task, Claire will embark on journey.

First up let me say I don't normally read contemporary romance novels - I'm much more of a historical romance woman myself so that may have affected some of my perceptions of the book.

I really enjoyed the dialogue in the book - both with others and the main character's internal commentary it was really good; funny, true to life, and relatable (yes, even to a more 'mature' reader!). The story line was well done too - I was a bit concerned by the 'Pride and Prejudice' concept teased in the blurb, but that was very subtly done and the resolution was also very nicely done - hint, it involved grown-up conversation (something that is sadly lacking in historical romances).

The narrative however did drag a little on occasion - a bit less telling and more showing would have helped move the story along in my opinion.

And finally, whilst I absolutely loved all the Canberra shout-outs (huge fan of Canberra Distillery gins!) it did mean I was hyper-aware of some errors in the writing that unfortunately did impact my review. For example, there's no way there'd be green. lush paddocks in the middle of November around Canberra (they're barely there in winter let alone summer) and one plot device hinges on the heroine taking one particular road which is apparently the only road she could take from her house to her nan's place. However, given this is Canberra there's always at least 3 different ways one can get anywhere and in this particular case this road would not have been the best option.

Picky I know, but the book is very much a tribute to Canberra living (and rightly so, Canberra is a much under-rated city!) and to get something like this wrong, especially when it's a major plot device, was disappointing.

Ultimately though I guess you want to know – did I feel the HEA was right? Was I left with a warm and fuzzy feeling or wishing I could get my money back?

Yes I did feel the HEA was right - I could definitely see the heroine and hero together and I did love how it was the hero who did most of the changing (no spoilers!). I recommend this book if you're interested in smart heroines; supportive female friendships; witty, well-written conversations and internal monologues; and gin!

This is an insightful Australian story about 𝘾𝙡𝙖𝙞𝙧𝙚 𝘽𝙖𝙭𝙩𝙚𝙧, a 26 years old traveller. While all her friends were busy making their careers, Claire lived her dream and travelled around the globe. But now she’s back at her parent’s home in Canberra and her life feels still.

Claire is desperate for a purpose in life here at her parents and her life takes a swift turn when her nan gives her 𝙁𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙠, a classic Kombi van. Majority of the characters and their lives are highly relatable throughout the read and this battle of seeing the world yet being close to home was what i cherished in this book!

Claire’s parents were not just relatable but really hilarious and they kept me wanting to read more throughout!

Get along with Claire and Frank on a journey full of drama, friendship, love, family, emotions and humour. The overall plot is quite refreshing, slightly on the predictable side yet amazing read for beach day!
Chloe Stevenson’s writing will surely make you get geared up and finding some adventure in life.

I absolutely adored Chloe’s journey and became totally smitten by the characters and plot of this novel.
I loved Claire and Frank and the whole concept of restoring the van lovingly that had been passed down from her grandparents. I am a bit of a wonderer at heart but also love my family and friends, so I completely identified with Claire and her dilemma to travel or stay home. My favourite part about her was that she was so real. She isn’t glossy or a high-flying career woman but she’s a girl who follows her heart on mad adventures, who has fun and who lives life.
Claire’s parents are hilarious and so warm. They are actually my favourite characters and really added a lot of comedy to the book. Her friends also lead real lives and their bond and support for each other is so good. It reminded me of my friends and I immediately recommended this novel to them afterwards.
The plot is light and funny and just so easy to get lost in. I didn’t want it to end and I would love to read more of Claire’s adventures past and present (pretty please).
A story about friends, family and adventure and an absolute perfect escape.

The Travel Inbetween by Chloe Stevenson was a funny, adventurous, homey read that had me addicted from page 1.

5/5 stars

Claire has been back in Canberra Australia for 6 weeks now after spending years traveling from place to place. She feels like she is behind everyone else in her class, and as though she has no direction. Until her nan gives her Frank, a classic Kombi van/camper that turns her entire life upside down- in the best way.

A book full of drama, romance and a dad who is one hell of a person, this book will make you binge read it in a few hours. I loved the characters. Claire, George, Anna, Daisy (we love lesbian representation in books!) Ainsley and her interest in the business across the street (or maybe just the owner.) characters who would normally sink into the background were at the forefront, and I found myself cheering for everyone and waiting to see how they faired. And Harvey, her dad, CRACKED ME UP! That is the type of dad you just have to love.

This book is heavily based on relationships with other characters, and it was written so well it felt real. Every character was thoroughly developed, the plot moved along with perfect pacing.

My romcom fans, and even romance fans will love this book!

The Travel in Between is a warm and delightfully funny read.

The story follows Claire Baxter, a witty and steadfast friend, as she navigates life after finding herself back home for the first time in a long time.

It's a book that makes you want to call up your friends for a spontaneous adventure across the country (and possibly book your car in for a service, just in case) - definitely recommend.

While her friends were working on their careers and relationships, Claire Baxter was busy travelling the world.
After coming back home to Canberra, she feels lost, until her Nan gives her Frank. Frank is a 1968 Kombi van who took her grandparents around Australia back when he was brand new. Claire suddenly has a new project, to restore Frank to his former glory with her over enthusiastic father in tow.
As she juggles the upcoming wedding of one best friend and the relationship breakdown of another - all while navigating more than enough woes of her own in the love department - Claire finds herself trying to fix more than some concerning rust bubbles on Frank.
It’s a millennial twist on pride and prejudice that’s takes an unashamed look at the unpredictable lessons life throws at you when you least expect them.

I loved everything about this book.
Firstly the cover is absolutely stunning. This is one I’d definitely be happy to judge by its cover.
The story flows so well, it never feels rushed or too slow and the characters are so relatable and well developed.
Harvey (Claire’s dad) would have to be my favourite character by far. The love he has for his daughter is so blooming cute it’s brings a tear to my eyes.
I was smiling from the start to the end of this book and it left me with all the warm fuzzy feelings.
It’s not just a romance. It’s about friendship, family and those times you question your own purpose in the world.

Claire returns from travelling the world while her friends are settling down and ends up living in a Granny flat at her parents and working in a coffee shop. Then she inherits her grandparents old Kombi, Frank.

Claire decides to renovate Frank to see if she can get him close to his former glory. Claire's deepening relationship with her father throughout the refurbishment was lovely. She also has many dealings with grumpy mechanic George.

This is a wonderful story of family, friendship, heartache and drama. It was full of emotion and lessons to be learned. The setting of Australia was a delight as I've not read many books set there and the images conjured up made me feel as though I was there.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this book and I really do hope there is a sequel as I'd love to find out what happens next.

Such a cute, warm, happy romcom.
Claire has always felt restless and in need of adventure. While resting at her parents home before plotting her next great escape she is gifted her grandfather's vintage Kombi, Frank. With the help of her dad and a local grumpy mechanic she fixes up Frank and plans to road trip across Australia with him like her grandparents before her. I loved the story, the characters, the setting and most of all Frank!
I found the bond that grew between Harvey and Claire so lovely, it was great for Claire's personal development to have this relationship deepened.
There were other storyline's with Claire's friends such as Anna that gave the story some depth.
I love a grand romantic gesture so the ending to this was perfect.
A great read that I would highly recommend!

Firstly, I absolutely adore that cover art!

For the most part I really enjoyed this book. It was a fast and fairly easy read. I found that the characters were relatable with their real life problems. The conversations flowed like real people were having them. The overall story was a little predictable but sill a sweet enjoyable read.

BUT, what kept taking me out of the story was the amount of grammatical errors (words missing, extra words, incorrect words) throughout the book. Nothing is perfect. However, for me, the number of errors in this book was quite distracting. This is self published so I hope the author does one more proof read before the next printing.

A very cute and warm rom-com, that makes you laugh out loud. I loved the character in this and the relationships they have. The relationship between Claire and her Dad was definitely a favourite of mine. It was a delightful read from page to page, I didn’t want to stop reading. It was sexy, funny and completely lovable. I adored how the story was written, especially the way in which Frank was made to feel like an additional character. This is a story that is completely relatable to a lot of people. I loved the way the ending was written and how the story ended, you were given just enough to feel like all the characters stories were wrapped up nicely. Highly recommend.

The Travel in Between by Chloe Stevenson is a riveting romance comedy with a healthy share of travel and adventure, family drama, friendship, love and so on. The novel features twenty-six-year old Claire Baxter from Australia. She is passionate about traveling. In fact, she very much pursued her dream of travelling across the world. After some years of travelling, she returns home in Canberra. She is befuddled to find that friends her age are getting engaged, settling into career, going for marriage and other rites of passage of life that one accepts with growing age.

Upon return home, she finds herself empty – devoid of any purpose. Initially the novel is a little bit tough to read but as I progressed with the pages, I found Claire’s characters not only intriguing but also influential.

The novel is about her surrounding but it also has its own share of romance i.e. Claire and George. Claire struggles with her love affair. In fact this novel resembles the modern Pride and Prejudice set in Australia. Soon Claire finds one old 1986 Kombi van named Frank that once belongs to her grandparents. She bows to restore it in its old glory and want to continue her traveling. This is a great story of love and other relationships with insights of Australian way of life. Chloe Stevenson’s way of writing is superb and her characters are somewhat funny but totally relatable. Being my first Australian novel, I enjoyed it like anything.

🔵 BOOK: THE TRAVEL IN BETWEEN
🔵 AUTHOR: CHLOE STEVENSON

🔵 REVIEW:
There are some novels that have the power to hook the readers right from the first page. The Travel in Between is one such Novel. As the cover photo of the book shows, this is the journey of a woman in her mid to late twenties who has inherited a Kombi van of her pop. The name of the van is Frank. Claire's parents played an interesting role in the story. Her two best friends in Canberra are glad to have her back after her years of travel. Claire even told them that she needs love in her life now. But her current love is Frank. Together they have great adventures to look forward to. The plot of the story is unique and I enjoyed reading this novel. I was looking for more when it ended. Chloe's writing is professional. Pace of the story is fast and I didn't feel bored anytime while reading this book. This is a must read Australian story that I enjoyed fully. Story is full of action all the time. While reading this book, I got much inspired from Claire's adventure. I wanna live a life like Claire because it's my dream to go on adventures like her and make others envy with my Instagram posts and stories. This is a perfect story for weekend binge reading. I didn't even realise when the story ended. I was left wanting it more. Narration is smooth and the story was easy to follow. This is a must read one. I am sure you will thank me later for this amazing recommendation.

BOOK REVIEW: The Travel in Between

The Travel in Between is a witty tale of a young woman who has returned home after years of travel. Claire Baxter navigates her life in Canberra, Australia. Her parents are interesting characters. She has two good friends: Anna and Daisy.

Anna and Claire have been friends since primary school. Anna met Daisy at the University and soon she became friends with Claire too. Daisy's wedding is coming up. Claire needed to earn and save some money so she could afford her friend's wedding and then be back to her next adventure.

Little did she know that at her nan's house, there was a beautiful surprise for her. Claire met Frank there. Her grandmother hadn't sold Frank since her grandfather used to love it. Her nan has passed the Kombi van to Claire. She wanted her husband's things to be loved again. Claire now has to clean the rusty van along with her excited father.

The cover and the title of this book attracted me to pick it. The story is set in Australia and that's what I loved while reading. I am tempted to navigate Australian roads now. This story pulled me into its world while reading. If you are looking for a book to escape reality for some time then go ahead with this without any second thoughts. I am sure you will love it.

𝑻𝒊𝒕𝒍𝒆: The Travel in Between
𝑨𝒖𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒓: Chloe Stevenson

𝑴𝒚 𝑹𝒆𝒗𝒊𝒆𝒘:
I picked the book "The Travel in Between" by Chloe Stevenson because its title attracted me at first look. Being a romantic person and a wanderlust, I think this is the best book I have got my hands on this year.

Story features Claire Baxter, the middle child of her parents. Her elder sister is a mother of two and her younger brother is in the Royal Australian Navy. Claire once had a very interesting life. She travelled to various places and her instagram is full of exotic places and people. After coming home in Canberra, Claire is back to her boring life. She is working at Bookshop Café in Kingston Old. In Canberra, she has two best friends: Anna and Daisy. Daisy is about to be married and Anna is in a relationship with David but it seems like she is stressed and hiding something from her friends.

Meanwhile, Claire got a Kombi van from her grandmother and is curious to start a new venture with him. Get your hands on this intriguing story to go on adventures with Claire. The storyline is gripping and I couldn't keep this book down until I finished it. After reading this book, I must say that I have become a fan of Chloe's writing. I am interested to read more of her work in future.

The Travel in Between
By
Chloe Stevenson

My Review:
The Travel In Between is a romcom read written by Chloe Stevenson and illustrated by Jamie L Lawson. Story revolves around twenty six years old Claire who is back at her parents' home in Canberra. At the back of their parents' home backyard, there is a small studio granny flat. Claire is living in this studio apartment. She thought she can't get used to the life of living in this studio apartment and has to be back on track for her next adventure soon. In six months, she thought she would have enough money for the next adventure. But life has some other plans.

One day on a visit to her nan, Claire got a beautiful gift from her. It was Frank, a rusty old Kombi van that her grandfather used to drive. Claire is inspired by her grandfather's adventures and is now determined to bring Frank back on the road.

The way Claire explores and navigates through life is pretty inspiring. Her life is full of excitement and is not boring like the usual adults who attend college, chasing jobs, etc. Claire's character is my favourite. Story is full of romance, friendship, drama, adventure, humour, etc. It's a book worth reading. One could carry it on their next adventure.

Well, this is absolutely charming story of a chilled world traveller Claire which is written by Stevenson and chloe✍🏻

For me, as I love to travel so this is best for me😍as here it is not only for me but for every traveler🚎

Here, you will get to know the disadvantages of traveling as well as advantages💙most people love to travel the world but few of them think about this thing😵‍💫(mystery)

By traveling, you will get so much knowledge, experience of other countries as well as many other things 😁

But, side by side you are losing something everyday🥲just like claire did

So, basically this is a novel which will give you some life lessons✨

Claire was in their own world 🌏everyday she is getting something new as well as losing also🥺

She is getting apart from their own ones like family, friends and even from studies and joy🙃

After all this when she get back to home from everything she is questioning her ownself only ⁉️Like what was her purpose or what she wants to do ahead⁉️

So, in this beautiful journey she got millions of things as well as exhausted life lessons😍

The Travel in Between by Chloe Stevenson
This was such a lovely book to read.
It felt like a nice hug (especially post Godsgrave) and was a fun story.
Claire is back in her hometown after travelling all over the world post high school and is wondering “what next?”
She is reconnecting with her parents while she stays with them and spending time with her closest friends, who are post University, in serious relationships and have careers.
Claire is such a funny character to read, her self-deprecating humour is so relatable and she has a fantastic sense of humour, she is a supportive friend and honestly I wish she was my friend.
The book leaves us with a tidy ending but I couldn’t help but feel like I wanted more, simply because I liked the characters so much. I would love to hear more about George, Anna and Daisy. Truly a compliment to the author for making her characters so real and giving them a nice depth.
Also can’t lie, wanna buy a Kombi and trek around Australia but…. You know 🥲

Review:
After a long time, I have got my hands on an exciting story.

Claire's life has been so interesting the past few years but after running out of money and feeling homesick, she returned to Australia to live with her parents. Her routine now is similar to her teenage days.

Claire is working at Bookshop Café in Kingston Old. She commutes to work on a hand-me-down bicycle. Claire's life took an exciting and unexpected turn when her nan gifted her a Kombi van of her grandfather. Pick a copy of this book to know what Claire is gonna do in her life now.

Ending of the story is interesting. Plot is well constructed. This is a great story that is full of love, family, friends, etc. Chloe's writing is witty. I am happy to read this novel. I have become a fan of Chloe's work. Characters felt so real. This is a book that I found worth my time. I like to strongly recommend it to my fellow readers.

The Travel in Between penned by the author Chloe Stevenson is a romantic comedy. It's a story that fits perfectly to my reading taste. Main character of the story is a girl in her twenties. Claire Baxter who has travelled to different places after high school. People envied her instagram posts. After years of travel, when she ran out of money and was homesick, she returned to her parents' home in Canberra.

One day, when her family visited her nan, her nan gifted Claire her grandfather's Kombi van Frank. Claire is excited for a new adventure in her life. Her dad and she are working to bring Frank back on the road. Read this exciting story to know what's gonna happen next. I enjoyed every bit of this story.

Language used in the book is lucid. Cover photo looks perfect and the title couldn't have been more appropriate. Writing style of Chloe is amazing. I am quite impressed by the plot. This story has excited me to go on my next adventure.

This book follows the story of Claire, recently returned home to Australia after several years backpacking and travelling. She is gifted her grandparents 1960s VW camper, and embarks on a restoration project with a few life lessons thrown in along the way!

This is a really easy book to read, it flows so well. Claire was an instantly likeable and down to earth character, and i really enjoyed the strong female friendships she had - the kind you can pick up where you left off, even after 8 years. I also loved Claire's parents, particularly her dad with his enthusiasm and DIY skills!

A fantastic warm hearted read that I will definitely be recommending to my friends! If you've ever felt that longing to hit the road and see where the road takes you, you will thoroughly enjoy this book!

Thanks to Love Books Tours for arranging my #gifted copy of the book in exchange for an honest review

This is a lovely, light-hearted read full of loveable, relatable characters, set against a beautiful Australian backdrop. It’s well written, the story flows nicely and I found it a comforting read, which was just what I needed after breaking my elbow at the weekend!

Claire is a fun and likeable character, who has a cheery, positive approach to life, even when faced with challenges. I loved her sense of humour and really enjoyed her banter with the other characters, especially her dad. I particularly liked how Frank the Kombi van is characterised and is instrumental in helping Claire find the love and meaningful relationship that she craves.

The Travel in Between is a beautifully crafted and uplifting study of friendship, family and love and the trials and tribulations of finding one’s place in life.

I’d recommend it to all romance fans.

This is a nice easy read, perfect for a summery afternoon with some very relatable characters. I liked how the 3 friends all represent different life stages even though they are all similar in age and I thought it was a realistic portrayal of the different dynamics you get in close friendship groups. Not a lot actually happens in this story, it's the journey to the start of Claire's journey across Australia, and the personal lives of her and her friends that we get to see. I did get a little impatient towards the end wanting the road trip to start! My favourite character was Harvey (Claire's dad) as I saw a lot of my dad in him! This was a pleasant book to read and I think the family/friendship dynamics are done really well. I just prefer a bit more action in my stories but an enjoyable read nonetheless.

This book is a beautiful tale of mid 20's Itinerant Claire. After a fascinating world travel she returns to Canberra, Australia. She takes up her old job in a bookstore café, meets her old besties and spends the lost time with her family (mainly parents and granny). Claire is a disturbed about her life without knowing what had to be done next. Claire is gifted a classics kombi van, her grandfather's bus 1969 VW. Will this bus change her life?

I accidentally picked this book because this is new genre for me, but with the flow I realised it's a wonderful tale. I just loved Claire character a nomadic traveller, a dream life. The romantic tangle in this story is very interesting, and my favourite lovers are Dianna and Harvey. While reading this book I told mom I wish I had a life like Claire, she just stared at me which stopped my plans before they are made. 🤫
