A New Way of Looking at Food, and Life

If you have tried diet after diet, hoping to lose weight or be healthier, only to give up, this book is for you. Christin Bummer shares her knowledge and experience in this book, providing a SMART approach to not just weight loss, but overall health. She walks you through the mental blocks that prevent many of us from reaching out health goals, and provides exercises to help you define your "why". It's not a matter of willpower, it's a matter of motivation, and what drives you to want to succeed in this lifestyle. Christin writes in a way that is knowledgeable and also comfortable. Reading this book is like sitting in conversation with a friend, and this approachable style makes the lessons learned in reading this book that much more resonant. In short, this is a great book for anyone who is "stuck" in their journey to a healthy lifestyle.

I’m so very glad I picked up this book.

As a vegetarian and sometimes vegan (it’s a long story) I can attest that these lifestyles don’t guarantee health. There is plenty of vegetarian junk food out there, and you might be surprised, but vegans can also eat too much of a good thing.

And there’s the rollercoaster of all the ‘healthy’ diets of deprivation many of us try but can’t sustain – many of which even cause us to put on extra weight afterwards.

This is not a diet book or a weight loss guide; it’s a book about attitude and about you, the two cornerstones of your health. Here you will find no criticism, no condescension; rather you’ll be gaining both community and encouragement and a reasonable, achievable way of life to extend your life and your quality of life. It’s about baby steps to what you so want to achieve, with one thing at a time and one assignment in each chapter.

I loved the client spotlights – the stories of people to whom this lifestyle has made a huge difference – there was one in particular that resonated very deeply with me. The green light cheat sheet is extremely useful, as well as the delicious new recipes. This has reminded me of why I became a vegetarian, and sometimes a vegan, in the first place, why I want to rediscover and this time exceed my previous healthy, best life, and – very practically – how to do it.

I hate the title of this book, but it was exactly what I needed to get back on track with a whole-food-plant-based way of life. This book was a Kindle Unlimited recommendation and I'm so glad I decided to give it a try.

The author condenses plant-based nutrition information from several doctors and gives you just what you need to start making changes, especially if you are wanting to lose weight. She has links to free bonuses that are very useful. The only drawback is that most links eventually lead to buying one of her programs, but you don't need to buy anything to get value out of the book and bonuses.

Exactly what I needed!

I have been looking for a book for quite some time that spelled out an actual game plan, not just recipes. I needed it to be simple because my habit is fast food and I am not at all in the habit of cooking. I needed it to be healthy, because, well, isn’t that the whole point! This book checks all the boxes. I have not tried any of the recipes yet, but they really do look delicious and simple. The plan seems very doable and comes with several resources, including a three day detox. I am anxious to get started and grateful for the resources.

I have to admit that my head has been spinning with all the different kinds of information out there about plant based eating, but Christin made sense of it all. I really couldn't figure out how and what to eat and of course was not loosing weight. Now I have a better understanding and feel like I know what to do. Definitely recommend reading this book!

Helpful!

This book helped me to find a few more reasons why I should keep going on my plant based journey. I most appreciated the visuals about calorie density and satiety, as well as the green/yellow/red light foods.

Great book.

Great info and the words were like an encouraging friend. I would recommend to anyone starting plant based lifestyle. It encompasses mindset and introduction to healthy Whole Foods.

Interesting book

I really enjoyed this book. It explains very plainly the whole food plant based diet and makes it doable! I got very excited about it and plan to stick my foot in to eating this way.

Wonderful!

Just reading/listening to the book of course is motivating, but some key ideas really hit me hard. I never thought about things in this way. It’s transforming.

Life-changing!!

I was given this book to read after a medical visit and it has changed my life. It was an eye-opening read and it has me making better life choices.
