In the title, the publisher promises this book will have tips and tricks. In a quick flip through the book, I only saw two tips... not enough to merit, to my view, such a distinction in the title. This book has 100 medium and 50 hard sudoku puzzles, each on its own page. While I do prefer my sudoku puzzles to be one per page, these go nearly to the edges, and I'm one who likes to write around the puzzle sides as I figure a puzzle out. I wish the publisher had left more room. The first tip, to me, was laughable. It suggests using a pencil to do your sudoku puzzles! How many people actually use pens? I always use pencils for crosswords and sudoku. Don't most people? Also, that first tip stated: “It's time to move on to the medium sudoku.” This comes before the first medium puzzle. As this book has only medium and hard puzzles, there is nothing “to move on to”; it's where we start. My gut instinct tells me the publisher bought sudoku puzzles from a third party and split them out into several books; the publisher accidentally maintained the reference to easier-than-medium puzzles. Anyway, the author does include the solutions for the puzzles. I should not have to say this, but I am surprised how many puzzle and activity books don't have solutions. Given that this book is large print and meant for older adults, as the publisher discusses in the brief introduction, the solution section should have had fewer puzzles per page; each solution page has 12 puzzles, making them very small and harder to read for those with “old eyes,” like me. Despite its flaws, the puzzles appear to be fine. So, if you enjoy sudoku books at the medium-to-hard level, you may enjoy this book.
I received a free digital copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
