Fascinating read by an AFL and Essendon great, who demonstrates a considerable talent for writing and sharing the story of one particular season in the AFL. This book offers the reader a very honest insight into the man and his lifestyle.
Started reading this book and as is my wont, had to finish it. I thought it may be more contemporary but unfortunately the biography is a “dear diary” belaboured periodical entry of the player’s 2002 season. It rings of contractual obligations and reeks of hyperbole which is really disappointing. Hird is not a meathead and his intellect is obscured by this “for stocking filler fodder”. I hope next time he writes a book he does so because he has something to say, that he wants to say.
