This book started off strong and insightful within the first 40 pages. It then became very repetitive afterwards. While I think it is helpful for new designers, I also feel like the book made it seem simple and instantaneous to create a detailed design. While I do agree that 3D programs have become less complicated, as someone using 3D design software for the last 18 years, it is still a challenge to create a great and detailed design, especially when difficult topography is involved. Not one designer I have met can just throw a great design together (nor would they if they could) minutes before walking out the door to a design walk-through. While there were some good insights, I feel like the design process was downplayed and is "simple" if you just follow their steps.
The book heavily promotes the author's company and software, which, while a smart marketing strategy, may feel a bit excessive at times. As a user of Structure Studios, I have mixed feelings about its user friendliness and the pricing for the software. However, from a designer's perspective, the book offers valuable insights—particularly on ensuring fair compensation for design services and helping clients recognize the importance of investing in thoughtful, well-executed designs. It's not a life changing read, but has some good sales pitch tips.
This is a book specific to pool designers using Pool Studios. If you are new to using this program or the industry it could be a big help. The book also has some nice sales approaches that can be used in any sales category. Also the stories can help designers in other trades find new ways to look at designing for clients. The book is easy to read and has KEY TAKEAWAYS at the end of each chapter making a breeze of reviewing the book later.
