If you enjoy reading about the antics of our feline friends, then you will want to pick up Catnip, Toilet Paper, and Lasers by M. G. Rorai.
Throughout this adorable collection cat lovers will smile, chuckle, and shake their heads as they read about the antics of a variety of cats. From Socks and his love of the laser pointer to Elsa and her dislike for the automated litter box, from the cute "presents" cats love to leave us to bathroom visits interrupted by furry friends, from dancing and active cats to the quiet and cuddly ones, and so much more this book is a lot of fun.

Rorai opted to stick with one style of poetry throughout this collection, which created a sense of consistency. It would have been nice if the different voices of each cat were more well-defined. They clearly have different personalities, so varied word choices or form may have helped those personalities shine through in their own unique ways.

I truly loved this little collection and am so glad I had the chance to read it. I might read it again this summer for some light reading on the beach.

Catnip, Toilet Paper, and Lasers is a fun collection of cat themed poetry. As a cat lover and owner myself, this book was right up my alley. I found the poems to be amusing and relatable. A very entertaining read. One poem did take me a little by surprise, mostly because I wasn't expecting the language, but other than that, I thought this was a purr-fectly fantastic book for cat lovers. And fans of poetry too.

If you have ever spent time with a furry companion, especially of the feline variety, you will get a smile from this collection of anecdotal experiences.
Told from the cat's point of view, this author does have a talent for setting scenes and events into rhyme.
From torturing toys and toilet paper, to scaring their humans (to show their love) and just enjoying life, including hikes, and perhaps not enjoying playing dress-up, this book has something for everything. Who doesn't appreciate an uninvited Zoom appearance of the furry kind?

Who can relate? "I like to take undies and drag them across the floor..."
or "I'm fascinated by the glasses that my human wears..."

One of my favorite anecdotes, or tales of woe, begins with
"My human got a costume of which she made me wear
I now look like a pumpkin,,,"

I could type more but furry feet on my keyboard remind me that I haven't checked the food dishes in the last fifteen minutes.

My Review: I received a complimentary copy of this book via the Pump Up Your Book tours. The following is my honest review and opinion. I am immediately drawn to any books having to do with cats, so silly cat poetry was right up my alley and I was fortunate to get a chance to read and review it. I love that actual cat antics were used as inspiration for this series of poems. You can tell the author has definitely shared a home with cats, she definitely manages to capture the attitude and mischief they create. I love how she features individual cats specifically in this collection, giving each their own little spotlight. One of my favorite lines was "But I go where I please and lay where I want that dog can sit elsewhere watching me flaunt." If that doesn't completely capture cat attitude, I don't know what does. This was such a fun collection to read and I found something to enjoy on each page. I just hope we get more in the future!

This book is a "hoot"! It is written from the cats' point of view, and is SO true. My cat does stuff that is exactly like in the book.
It is written primarily by Socks and Elsa (the author's cats), but other cats' points-of-view including Tiger, Annie, Hobbes, Sam, Callie, Fatty, Stella, Loki, Marlin, Lilo, Cassie, Onyx, Nico, Tristan, Gumbo, Zora, Kiki, Alex, and Penny.
It is very realistic, and very funny.

"Toilet paper is the best
to shred and to tear,
running through the house
with no one to care.

Until my human comes home
and sees my decor
scattered all over
the living room floor.

He yells my name
as I dash across the room
with a full roll in my mouth;
he chases me as I zoom.

Now the bathroom door stays shut
much to my despair;
I cry for my toilet paper-
I need to shred and tear!" Elsa

I chose to read this book after receiving a free e-copy. All opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased.

Catnip, Toilet Paper, and Lasers is an adorable collection of poems about—you guessed it—cats! I could just picture cats chasing a laser pointer around or falling off a favorite spot. My favorite poem was about the author’s cat, Elsa, who was enjoying soup on the stove until she was interrupted. As she jumped down, the ladle hit her human in the face! I thought it was hysterical.

The poems in this book are fun and make it easy to imagine the antics of various cats. Any cat lover will enjoy Catnip, Toilet Paper, and Lasers over and over. It’s the perfect book to share with children and other cat lovers.
