Robert Carrier OBE (born Robert Carrier McMahon – died in France) was an American chef, restaurateur and cookery writer, whose success came in England, where he was based from 1953 to 1984, and then from 1994 until his death.
Time was when Robert Carrier was the most widely known chef in the UK and had the respect of chefs throughout Europe. I doubt now whether anyone under 40 except chefs, cooks and cookery book collectors, know who he was. This book is very much old style in layout and photography with over saturated colour photos. Many of which depict not only dishes but the many famous people he knew including a delectable braless Liv Ullman ! The book has all the looks of a series of articles from a Sunday colour supplement although there is nothing to indicate so in the content. All Robert Carriers books deserve a place on any cookbook collectors shelf, this is no exception.
