A Friessen family celebration turns tragic when the marriage of one daughter is preceded by the heartbreaking loss of another.
Three days before Sara Friessen’s wedding, her older sister, Chelsea, who is married to the son of a notorious criminal, disappears without a trace. The police have no leads, and her husband, Alaric Taft, has also gone missing. To find the couple, the Friessens must come face to face with the kind of deadly underworld they had never expected would touch their family.
Andy Friessen lives and breathes only one thing: protecting his family. He soon discovers the secret behind what has happened to his eldest daughter, and he’s plunged into a cat and mouse game, stonewalled at every turn by authorities who are supposed to be helping him. For the first time in his life, he’s forced to admit he’s in over his head. The Friessens are stronger together, so, in desperation, though he swore he never would, Andy ultimately calls for help from his cousins, Brad, Jed, and Neil.
As the cousins dig deeper into the days before the disappearance, they discover that Alaric was hiding a very dark truth, one that put a target on Chelsea’s back, and someone would have gone to great lengths to keep it from coming to light. The lines between good and bad have suddenly become blurred. All the Friessens want is a happy ending, but the more they search, the more the evidence points toward their worst fear—that their nightmare has become reality, and Chelsea could be lost to them forever.

I have missed the Friessens so much, but, oh, what a way for them to return. Of course, this is not really the end because with the Friessens there will always be more to come, and I, for one, cannot wait to see what’s next.
Omg I just love me some Friessens but this one had me in tears my heart broke for Sara but it was selfish of Chelsea not to let the family know what was going on knowing that Sara had postponed her wedding several t8mes this was just a fantastic read
3 ½ stars This is book thirty two of The Friessen’s series and the family are about to celebrate Sara Friessen’s wedding to Devon, in three days’ time. Sara’s father Andy and her brother Jeremy, have gone to the airport to pick up her sister Chelsea and her husband Ric (Alric) Taft, but they don’t come off the airplane they were supposed to have arrived on. Most of the family thought it had only been days since they spoke to Chelsea, but when they try to work out when they last spoke or texted, it could be a week or more. Ric is the son of a notorious criminal and it seems he was hiding something very dangerous and Chelsea may well be paying the price for his actions. Both Chelsea and Ric are missing and the police have no clues as to their whereabouts or if anything has happened to them. Andy would do anything to protect is family, but he is lost and unable to do anything in the deadly criminal underground he finds them mixed up in. He has to call on his cousins Brad, Jed and Neill for help, something he hoped not to have to do! Andy doesn’t know about Ric father and the fact he has just walked out of the federal max prison. When Andy, Devon and Morgan report Chelsea’s disappearance, Sara is shocked at the Boston police officer’s reaction to Devon and Morgan because of the colour of their skin! Morgan was raised by Eddie Taft, Ric’s father, a white man, who believed in family like Andy. Eddie had raised Morgan to know how to react when a police officer pulled him over, something Andy had never had to think about with regard to his own children. It showed how deeply racism is rooted in society! The cops are only interested in where Eddie Taft is and what they know about his whereabouts. Mike and Jay were Eddie’s gatekeepers, doing whatever he wanted them to, whilst Ric wasn’t involved in his father’s business and did everything by the book. The last year, Ric started finding himself in trouble, with stop orders being put on everything, while his father was locked up. Andy’s cousins take up the reins and soon find that there was talk that Eddie may have made a deal with the Feds, and that put a target on Chelsea’s back. The more they investigate, the more it points towards their worst fear and the fact that they may have lost Chelsea. Chelsea had met an uncle of Andy’s, on a side of his family that he had separated himself from many years ago, because of something bad. Did this side of the family have anything to do with her disappearance? Ric is mixed up in something and it has affected Chelsea in a major way. The whole Friessen family have been involved in trying to find Chelsea and Ric and now Sara and Devon have missed their wedding yet again, because of some sort of family emergency! They have already had to rearrange it so many times already and now there will be one important person, from their family, missing from what should be a happy family occasion. Lots of different emotions are raised in this story, taking you over a rollercoaster of highs and lows. Not quite what you expect at the end, but at least a wedding will still be happening for one couple. A good story which took longer to get through because of it being an audiobook, even speeded up and somewhat harder to follow huge numbers of characters, from the extended family, as just spoken names and not something I could put my eyes on and go back to. I received an ARC copy of this audiobook from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the story above.
I'm a voracious reader but rarely have I seen a series so long that I'm reading the 32nd book! As this is the first book I've read of this series, right up until the end, I found myself confused by the very large cast of characters. Who was related to whom, and how exactly? I'll admit this did detract from my enjoyment of the audiobook. But I guess that's what I get for picking up a series 32 books into it! I did like this close-knit, loving family. The central mystery concerns the disappearance of one daughter, who happens to be married to the son of a crime lord. The book has a lot of wrong turns and red herrings, but things do get figured out, of course, in the end. Even though I had some character confusion, this story brought a tear to my eye when the missing girl's parents were confronted by something no parent should have to deal with. Mom's toughness and insight were invaluable and so very typical of a good mother. I love the ending of the book when the family pulls together to make something happen that should have happened but didn't because of all that was going on because of the mysterious disappearance of the one daughter. How the book ended further revealed how loving, inclusive, and inherently kind this family is. I wouldn't hesitate to check out another book in this series about this family. I wasn't wild about the narrator, though. She sounds decidedly Canadian, and this is a story about an American family. In fact, I was a little confused at the beginning about whether the family actually was Canadian because of this Canadian accent, but all the references to Boston, federal maximum-security prisons, the toxic prejudice, and the like suggested this was a solidly American story. The narrator’s accent really shouldn't bother me, but it just added to my confusion.
I received a promo code for this book, but that did not affect my review.
This story is one that will stick with me for quite awhile. It serves to highlight the unconditional love and support within the Friessen family and illustrates the old adage of life can change in an instant. It is raw, gritty and the stuff of nightmares for those who are parents or part of a close knit family like the Friessens. As the family are gathering for one daughter’s wedding, another daughter and her husband go missing sending the family reeling. Anyone who has read the other books about the Friessens knows that Andy is not one to sit still and let others do the work or searching for him. Surprisingly, Laura his wife refuses to sit on the sidelines while they search for answers. Usually content to let Andy handle the tough things, to guide his family through rough waters, Laura won’t sit back this time. They are not alone in their search for answers with family members related to the couple stepping forward to help, even Andy’s cousins Brad, Jed and Neil. The search takes on sinister undertones, stirs up long held secrets, and evokes anger, confusion and the deepest despair. The family discovers that they can’t count on the police for answers as they have their own hidden agenda. Will they get the answers they need? Will this situation end in tragedy or a reunion? Read this masterfully written and enthralling book to learn how this situation plays out.
I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Keep Me in Your Heart The Friessens, Book 32 by Lorhainne Eckhart Narrated by Sylvia Gonçalves
Postponing their wedding once, Sara and Devon are excited to do it this time. But when Chelsea and Ric aren't at the airport, they know there is going to be another crisis. This one is beyond scary, and only time will give them answers. Lorhainne Eckhart's talent balances so many things in this story. We have the disappearance of Chelsea, and the connections to crime Ric's family has. Their well being is at stake and there are no answers. We have Sara and Devon, just trying to start a new life, but having to put their lives on hold again! And in the midst of it all while trying to figure out where Chelsea and Ric are, Eckhart deals with racial profiling. She has a way of melding all this together, with suspense, a little drama and a family filled with love giving us that edge of your seat feel and the warmth and compassion only family has. I enjoyed this listen and look forward to more!
Syliva Goncalves narrates this story and she pulls out all the stops. A variety of characters with great voices, she builds the suspense and keeps the story flowing. I enjoyed her performance and will be watching for more from her.
Where to start..... it begins with the disappearance of Andy and Laura’s daughter Chelsea and her husband Ric. When the don’t show up for Devon and Sara’s wedding, they go to Boston to look for them. The fear is exponential because of Ric’s father connection to the underworld. What could have happened to them? They are just gone without a trace. The police do not appear to be concerned about the missing couple, only their connection to the father. Corruption is alive and thriving today. What is most disturbing is the racial profiling to Devon and Ric’s brother Morgan. We like to believe we are not biased and it was shocking to hear the young men talk about how parents of color raise their children how to act when law enforcement is suspicious or harassing them to survive. We take for granted how door are always open to us but not for everyone. Lorhainne has brought to the forefront some of the issues plaguing our country today. The story is gripping from the beginning to end. Definitely a one sitting read when you can’t put it down. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
Lorhainne Eckhart, I loved this book, I love this family and I absolutely love your writing. This book was a phenomenal read and I could not put this book down no matter what. I was immersed in this book and I was so very sad to see it end. This book consumed me from the very first page and it has not let go of my heart which has been smashed to tiny pieces and the memory of a couple of scenes will haunt me for a long time to come. My heart broke for the whole Friessen family and I felt their anguish and pain to my very soul. Once again you have given us another outstanding book and I hope that you might continue this story down the track so we know what happens to the family. The love and support the Friessens give each other is heartwarming and in this book you could feel it jumping off the pages. I cannot say enough about this book and about Ms Eckhart as an author. I have read a lot of Ms Eckart’s books but this book would have to be my favourite. Congratulations Ms Eckhart on another 5 star read, although in my eyes 5 stars does not do this book justice.
I received an arc copy from the author and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
This book had some difficult moments in it. The situation with Morgan and Devon; the tension, anxiety, and fear. I worried about the direction it was going to take. I felt the pain, the anger, the hurt, the sadness, the lack of control. I felt Morgan and Devon trying not to let the situation overwhelm them.
Then there was the situation with Chelsea and Ric. I couldn't imagine what Andy and Laura were feeling as the stood waiting, bracing themselves for the impact.
I thought Devon and Sara were interesting. In this book, I just did not feel the connection between them. While they were at Ric and Chelsea's, it seemed like there was this cavernous space between them. I didn't feel them click. I didn't feel any depth to the relationship. The sheer fact that they had to keep postponing their wedding had me wondering if they really wanted to get married.
It interesting and personally emotional read. It will grab your attention from the first page. When the cousins turn up to support Andy, things didn't work out quite like I expected. What a ride!
I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy received via Booksprout.
I have not read every book in the Friessen series, but I totally enjoyed this latest story. After postponing their wedding two times, Sara and Devon are finally getting married. At least they were, but when Sara’s sister Chelsea and her husband Rik fail to show up at the airport, the family senses that this is something more than a missed flight. With no word on their whereabouts, they fly to Boston and are astounded when the police are not interested in the missing couple, only in Rik’s father who escaped from a federal prison. As other family members are called in to look for Chelsea and Rik, the police are combative and Andy and Laura are worried that something bad has happened to their daughter. Strong characters who will take on the police and do whatever is necessary to find their daughter and sister with an ending that will take you by surprise. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation from the author. (by paytonpuppy)
It has been a while since there has been a new book in the Friessen Family series, and I was so glad to see this one come out. It was like catching up with old friends. In this story, Sara and Devon are planning the last few details of there wedding that is to take place in a few days. They have postponed it in the past, due to different reasons. When Sara's sister, Chelsea, goes missing all thoughts of the wedding are put off as Sara, Devon and Sara's parents, Andy and Laura, travel to Boston to figure out what has happened to Chelsea and her husband Ric. They are joined in Boston by Andy's cousins, Brad, Neil and Jed. Once again they show what family is all about. When one is in trouble they all gather to help no matter what. The story that unfolds and all the roadblocks they face will keep you reading. This is a very well written story with some of our favorite characters from this series.
This is book thirty two in The Friessens series and it is Sara and Devon's story. This story had you on the edge of your seat right from the first page until the last one and I couldn't put it down as I had to see what would happen next and it was so emotional that it broke my heart and had me crying over everything that was going on and what this family was going through and you have to wonder how it would all end. The characters and storyline pulled you in along with the twists and turns that you definitely didn't see coming and was not prepared for and it was so addictive. I can't wait to read more books by Lorhainne Eckhart as she is an amazing author and writer and she certainly knows how to keep her reader's attention and I definitely recommend you read this book, series and other books by her as they are definitely worth reading.

Sara is finally getting married after several postponements. She’s very excited to have her sister Chelsea finally come home to share her big day. Chelsea lives in Boston with her husband Alaric who is the son of a mob leader but is not involved in the family business. Andy goes to the airport to pick them up but they weren’t on the flight. He makes numerous attempts to contact them but gets no response. In typical Andy fashion, he takes off for Boston along with Laura, Sara and Devon. To their surprise, the Boston police are not very receptive to investigating this immediately. His Friessen cousins come in to help with the search. It was fabulous to see all the Friessen men come together again. Besides the mystery of the missing couple, there is also an interesting showing of racial profiling with how the different members of the family are treated. This is definitely one of the best books of the series and I’d like to see more featuring the whole extended family.
After having her wedding postponed once due to a family crisis there is nothing Sara wants more than to marry Devon. Everything is going according to plan until they go to the airport to pick up her sister Chelsea and her husband only to find out that not only aren’t they on the flight, but they are missing as well.
The family is determined to find Chelsea before it is too late but when they arrive in Boston from Montana not only are there no answers to be found but law enforcement doesn’t seem willing to help due to Chelsea’s in-laws.
This story takes us on quite the ride as it brings some social issues to the forefront, balances the suspense of the story with some emotional moments and allows us to reconnect with the characters that we know and love. The performance of the narrator drew me in and I didn’t even miss the fact that it wasn’t a dual narration as that is what I usually prefer.
WOW!! Every parent's nightmare comes true for Andy and Laura. To have your child just disappear is unimaginable. My daughter, who was 18 at the time, was missing for a few hours and I was barely hanging on as I looked for her. The thoughts that go through your mind are horrible. She's now 35 and I still get angry and scared thinking about that night. This was heartbreaking to see them go through all of what happened to them. While telling a great story Ms. Eckhart also manages to make us look at society and how we perceive things differently due to race, socioeconomics and even gender. She also brings home that family is the most important thing and how we can be uplifted by them or broken by them. A truly remarkable storyteller giving us another thrilling chapter in the life of the Friessen clan. I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
I have read several books in this series, which revolves around the Friessen family. The author does not fail to provide the reader with strong storylines, characters and events. Twists and turns builds up the anticipation and interest, plus add in the wedding of one family member and the disappearance of another, involving criminal activity at the same time and the heat is on, which can only add to the drama.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
What a ride- edgy, mysterious, nail biting, love of family, unconditional love in a 360 focus. I hope that we get to participate in Sara’s wedding and Chelseys challenges in the witness protection program. I know that we will continue to travel through time with Andy and his cousins and forgotten family that Chelsey reached our to in her hour of need. THE STORY CONTINUES- can’t wait. Thanks for another beautifully written suspense story!!!
I haven't read many of the books in the Friessen series, but this was a good read. It is finally time for Devon and Sara's wedding, but when her sister Chelsa and her husband Rik don't show up at the airport what follows is a all out search to find them. Things aren't always as the appear. I would certainly recommend this book to others. I receive a ARC from the author, and this is my fair and honest review.
The twists and turns will pull you in to the story. The suspense and mystery will keep you glued to the pages and sitting on the edge of your seat. You can't stop turning the pages to find out what will happen next. The characters are easy to relate to and deal with real life issues. The story is so well written you visualize it in your mind as you read the words on each page.

The story starts with a wedding and very fast it turns out in an awful fight to discover the truth and the search for equal rights. It has a lot of action, it´s fast-paced and easy to read. The fact that I haven´t read the previous books in this series did not impair understanding this book. It´s entertaining and I really enjoyed reading it!

When Sara's sister and her husband didn't arrive for her wedding as planned they knew something was wrong. They went to Boston looking for them and it was not long beforemthey realize that there was more to the story than they even thought. This is a fast pace suspense story with some new and some old characters from the Friessen family featured in previous books. A good solid read.

This book captured my interest from the start and kept me engaged until the end with a missing daughter, secrets, danger, family, and suspense. I would love to read more books in this series. I read and reviewed this book with no obligation.
What a great story. There is suspense right from the first page. Lorhainne has her reader on the edge of their seat all through the book. This Friedan series brings entertaining reading in every book.
Enjoyed this quick read. Action packed and brought up racial issues in today’s world in a pleasant manner . Andy Fressien has always been one of my favorite bad boy Friessiens. It was also nice to see Laura be the strong up in your face save the day heroine.
Great book. Would recommend faithful readers to read this book about the love of family and the loss of a family member. If you like love, suspense, and faithfulness to family values , then this is the book if r you.
