I knew about Flex from his Olympia appearances but didn’t know the story behind the man and the muscle. This was a great read and insight into the mind of a man that was an insecure young boy who struggled without throughout his whole career and he talks about it in great detail about not feeling enough and never being Satisfied and the extreme lengths a man will do to just to win. Flex was very open and raw about his whole life and career from the child hood trauma to his indiscretions and it’s great to see how his attitude and outlook on love came to at the end of the book. This is a great book about overcoming trauma, insecurities and being the best man you could be, this is one of my favourite books.

Seemingly honest account of the author's struggles with poor self-image and depression for which he compensated by being aloof and arrogant but without too much detail of how he built his career as a world class bodybuilder. He does not gloss over his steroid and diuretic use and its effects nor does he whitewash his poor behavior. Rather, he emphasises the how he survived because of the love of his grandmother and, later, his wife and humbly pays tribute to them.
