Adele Fox #1

Making Sense of Love: An Autistic Romance

Rate this book
Autistic… single… and not quite sure how to mingle.
As Adele Fox approaches thirty—being single is her normal.
Would she like a boyfriend? Yes. Does she know how to date? Not exactly.

Making small talk, flirting, reading body language, understanding jokes and sarcasm—sounds easy right? That is unless you have a communication difference.
When a chance encounter brings Adele together with a charming travel agent, she finds herself being whisked away for a romantic Valentine’s weekend. Little does she know, her world is about to be turned upside down.

Weighed down by anxiety, misjudgement, communication difficulties and being stereotyped, Adele turns to her best friend.
Living in a world that doesn’t always make sense, will Adele realise true love was already right in front of her?

Loved it. Gives a real insight into how people presume autism should show in people and how it’s actually very different for each person

Really felt connected

I honestly really enjoyed this book I could see myself so much in the mc. How certain noises bother me, how I can't pay attention to one person if too much back ground noise. Her inner struggles with am I doing saying the right thing. It honestly could have been me.

Their was times when Adam and Mel bugged me little when they was making things that woukd worry any friend and making it about Adele autism it bugged me.

I honestly thought I wouldn't like this because self doubt in mc is too much like my like reading about it doesn't help me however I found I really liked Adel.

This book was a 5/5 stars for me, as an autistic adult I got a better understanding of my condition and I’ve been looking for a romance book with an autistic character and I think that the author nailed it with this one and plus she’s autistic herself and she got diagnosed in her early thirties just like me so I relate to her in that sense. I read the book on my iPad on kindle unlimited, 10/10 would recommend please go read and support the author Emma Kendall

As an autistic person, I enjoyed this book and thought it was relatable and easy to read. I really related to the character Adele which in other romance novels I find it hard to relate due to not relating to the neurotypical / allistic dating experience. However, I found that the book didn’t flow as nicely or give me the feeling other romance books do when i’m reading them.

Really wanted to read this ever since I seen it advertised on Facebook and was not disappointed, I have grown up around autism as my brother has Aspergers and my best friends daughter has also been diagnosed as well, I thoroughly enjoyed this first book, some parts made me giggle, it was very well written and nice to have the perspective of an autistic author, can't wait to start book 2!

A beautiful easy read that had me laughing and crying along with the main character Adele Fox as she tried to make sense of love and what it meant to her.
As an autistic adult I found myself relating to Adele especially the way she over thought things and questioned everything she did and how draining it can be on the mind and body.

Surprisingly Delightful

The story was full of moments that resonated with me. I loved to see an independent autistic heroine. It was nice to see one of us get the happy ending we all wish to have.

A great read

This was a great read, the main character Adele reminded myself of me. The book had me hooked so finished in a couple of hours. Look forward to reading the other two books in the series

I really enjoyed all 3 of these instalments. However I believe it did drag a little with abit of a 'too happy an ending' not very real life.

This book was very informative.. I’m happy to be less ignorant after reading this and I like how the autistic peculiarities were explained. Although I can see the rationale behind the “aren’t we all just a lil autistic”, I better appreciate that I can’t belittle their unique struggle, first of what is occasional for me is an autistic person’s normal and that’s a lot to deal with.

This was a good read ☺️
