Firebrand is an entertaining fantasy read complete with a confident lead female, High Fae lore, love triangle, a curse, and power hungry villains.

I enjoyed the multiple POVs this book provides. I wish there had been more chapters with Aleria. I enjoyed the feisty princess and found her chapters to be shorter than MyKhal and Larkin's. The book plays heavily with tropes and I thought they worked very well for this story. The author built the world skillfully without a ton of dumping of info and lore or over explanation. I understood it quickly and how it worked within both the human and Fae realms. The author trusted the reader and I loved that. The POVs helped aide in that world building as well as give insight into the characters and each of their journeys. I found MyKhal's to be the weaker chapters but perhaps that was because Larkin and Aleria ended up being far more interesting story wise.

I thought the twist towards the end was great. The author sprinkled the breadcrumbs well that it was a surprise but I had my suspicions. It is always fun to spot the mystery but not solve it.

I will say that a lot of the lore reminded me of A Court of Thorn and Roses series which I both love and found myself distracted by. There were similarities with the High Fae, a curse, mates, etc. It was difficult not to compare the two being similar. I found the romance well developed, though a little fast, and Larkin to be a delightful, conflicted lead. My only other criticism would be the trope of the characters being in awe of the main love interest, Aleria. How wonderful and incredible she is, so brave and strong and unique. I wish we got to see more of it in her chapters than being told it by the lead males. She was certainly tough and incredible but it felt more being told that than experiencing it.

The ending certainly leads the reader wanting more and I am looking forward to seeing where the story goes.

If you're a fan of fantasy, this book is a good read. Entertaining, full of romance and lore, and action packed with great characters.

Brandi Gann's debut novel was a thrilling fantasy romance that amped up the action from the very first page. Told from multiple points-of-view, we follow three characters whose fates tangle up following a devastating betrayal.

Gann does romantic tension incredibly well, with the interactions between Aleria and Larkin being my most favourite aspect of the novel. Their banter and tenderness was heartwarming, and both characters have oodles of character and charm. MyKahl's chapters, while few and relatively far between, seemed comparatively dull compared to the other two, so I did admittedly find myself skim-reading them to get to the other, main chapters. Nevertheless, I was still intrigued, and constantly wondering how MyKahl would respond during "the big reveal".

The action scenes were tense and choreographed well, but for me, it's the interactions between the characters that are really the stars of the shows. The banter, particularly the fraternal banter, was on point, and had me laugh, cringe and swoon.

Overall, a great start to the series.

Brandi, bless your heart for writing this. And bless your heart for putting this out in the world. As soon as I picked this up, I knew that I wouldn't be able to put this down until I finish it or in my case, couldn't put it down even AFTER I finished it. Brandi weaves this beautiful magical tale and successfully holds you captive in it (can't even complain. You'll know why, when you get to know the protagonist. *cough* crush alert *cough*.) If you have a Fae fantasy hangover or if you are looking for one to give you a hangover. THIS BOOK IS FOR YOU.

This book...oh my word. Total book hangover. I could not put it down. I was edgy and impatient at work because all I wanted to do was go home and fall headfirst into Brandi Gann's beautiful world.

Fans of fantasy adventures, magic, romance, and action will love this book.
This will be one I reread again and again. I can't wait to see what she releases next!

Firebrand is a fast-paced, beautifully-written, tale of overcoming tragedy, finding love, and learning to move on when life deals you a terrible hand. I absolutely devoured this book. I was hooked from page one and finished it in a little under two days. It's been a long time since I stayed up late into the night reading a book, but this one had me doing just that!

Aleria and Larkin are one of my new favorite book-couples. I love enemies to lovers romances, and this one has all the right vibes! Larkin starts off selfish, even if for the right reasons. They need each other to accomplish their goals, but by the end, there is so much more to them than that. There is a real friendship that made me root for them every step of the way! Plus, the tension building up between these two characters is 🔥!

*** I had the honor of receiving an ARC of this debut novel in exchange for an honest review. ***

My only complaint is that book two is not out yet, so I have to wait! But I definitely recommend checkout out this debut. It's absolutely a five-star read for me, and perfect for fans of anything Fae!

The Lady of Fayharrow is fierce!

She is already dealing with heartbreak when tragedy befalls her home. Her fighting spirit leads her to a whole new world filled with creatures, secrets, and a dangerous Fae prince. With no other choice, she makes a deal, that may cost her more than her life.

This book has a HFN, knife-wielding mushrooms, and a PG-13 romance.⁹

I'm not sure how she did it but Brandi Gann has written one of the most compelling YA heroines I've ever read. She's strong yet so vulnerable and relatable at the same time in her longing for love and acceptance. Also H E L L O romance! This book was a treat that I devoured and left me hungry for more.

I absolulety loved Firebrand. Brandi Gann has that kind of writing style that's alluring, inviting you in for a closer look into her world, promising you a sweet, magnificent tale. And boy, does she make good on that promise! A kickass heroine, handsome fae males, court intrigue that will keep you guessing, Firebrand is an absolute delight!

Firebrand was a really enjoyable read. I loved the rich world and lush, immersive settings. I also enjoyed how the author plays with a love triangle - usually these are not my favourites as there is typically only one love interest I am invested in or rooting for, but the LIs of Firebrand turned out to be the exception! Highly recommended for fans of the ACOTAR series.

A beautifully written fae adventure with a feisty heroine who faces life head on and lives to the full. She may be a spitfire but she loves as deeply as she lives, and betrayal cuts deep.

Aleria runs from one traumatic event smack into another and discovers her world is not as safe as she had once thought. Gann has devloped a magical world with some lovely characters. All battling their own demons and with their own agenda. The question is can they get those agendas to align and help each other.

Gann has a beautiful turn of phrase, and you just smile as the prose rolls of the page and you find you have completed another chapter.

I was on tenterhooks as I read, knowing that the growing feelings between Aleria and Larkin were precarious to say the least, especially with the brooding MyKhal waiting in the wings. Highly recommend you pick this book up, your sympathies will be drawn from one character to another as Gann develops characters worth fighting for.

What a Fast-Paced and fun read!! Aleria is a fantastic main character who is dealing with a whole lot in this story. Her strength inspires the people around her and makes her an asset wherever she goes. Her story grips readers from the very beginning and holds on tight. The male characters in this story are respectful and strong (no toxic masculinity or fragile egos here), which I love. Brandi Gann knows how to write romance. It was incredible to see how she crafted relationships throughout the story. Swoon, swoon, swoon.

The only reason this was not a five star read for me was that the ending felt a bit rushed, like too many of the threads were being addressed for the ending of book one of a series.

This is one of the best books I have read in awhile and I will definitely be continuing on with the series.

I read this back in 2021 and am listening to the new audiobook version. When I say this book is so good, it is scrumptdeliumptious! I was freaking hooked and transported into the lush world that Brandi created! Her writing and descriptions are just incredible. The poetic way she weaves together words and descriptions that are so vivid and clear is otherworldly. The characters were so amazing, all individuals that you can connect to, and I loved the strength of Aleria! The flirty banter is what I live for and there was some good banter in there along with a good solid plot! Now, let me say, I do not like love triangles, but Brandi had me so invested in her world and characters, that I excuse it.
If you love fae that have a bit more of a folklore vibe, fantasy, magic, and romance, you will love this one!

"Firebrand" is so much more than a YA romance. Aleria shows us that femininity is not the opposite of strength. She is the master of her own destiny, while still longing for and finding love. Her heart is breakable, penetrable, and flawed, making her relatable while we simultaneously admire her as a warrior prepared to do what's necessary to protect her people. Aleria doesn't NEED a man. She chooses to open herself up to love, even after being burned before, which is one of the bravest things of all.

Brandi's debut novel will have you reading into all hours of the night, just like you did as a teenager. While the romance is, of course, captivating, she pulls you equally in with a riveting story and a twist you'll never see coming.

Firebrand by Brandi Gann is a fantasy romance about Aleria, a tough, fiery human girl who, after losing her childhood best friend turned fiancé and facing indescribable tragedy, runs into a mysterious group of fae warriors, including handsome fae prince, Larkin, and quickly discovers she is the key to breaking a longtime curse that plagues their kingdom. There’s a delicious love triangle that had me feeling torn throughout the entire book. It’s well-paced, beautifully written and my favorite fae story of the half a dozen I’ve read so far. The paperback not only has a beautiful cover, but there are lovely maps and illustrations both in the front and back. Can’t wait to get my greedy paws on book two!

Sometimes a book will latch on to your heart and soul, and be all you can think of long after you have devoured the last page like a sleep deprived maniac. Firebrand is such a tale.

Get ready to dive headfirst into a world of high stakes adventure, filled with ethereal places and creatures, as you journey with kickass Aleria, brave and loyal Mykhal, and enchanting Larkin as they fight for their homes and families.

Props to Brandi Gann, for not only giving the world of Young Adult Fantasy a riveting tale with her true knack for storytelling, but also putting in the hard yards as a self published author, and all the hurdles involved.

Five stars for a brilliant read!

I enjoy High Fae fantasy but not all Fae books entertain me enough to finish reading the story. Firebrand was one of my top 5 Fae Fantasy books alongside my beloved Court of Thorn and Roses. Firebrand was such a beautiful, exciting and comforting read. I enjoyed the multiple POVs because they added more dimension to the story and characters, and made for a unique love triangle. I liked the vibrant and immersive world and I adored the fun banter and tenderness between Larkin and Aleria. I loved the closed door steamy romance that was very sensual and heartwarming. The side characters were a great addition, especially the little Shroomies. I cannot wait to see them again in the sequel! ⁣

This story was so well written. The book was written in a way that made me feel like I could really see through the eyes of the characters, all the details and descriptions were well done. There is sensual tension between characters and sweet moments together, but clean enough for YA. This story exists in the human/fae world, so there are many interesting characters. And I loved Aleria. Such a strong female character. I listened to the audiobook, which I highly recommend. The duet narration, sound effects, and music were just wonderful. I really enjoyed the listening experience. Looking forward to reading or listening to more by Brandi Gann.

I really wanted to give this book 5 stars. The story was fascinating. I loved the characters. I loved the plot. I loved the setting. I loved the love story. I even loved the twists and turns. I even loved the betrayal. (I never saw it coming.) I would be proud to come up with a story as wonderful as this one was. For all of that, the book deserves 5 stars.

The reason I couldn't give it 5/5 was because there were so many mistakes and a lot of the typos could have been caught simply by running spellcheck.

With action starting from the first pages, easy to follow multi-POV chapters, make this a swift enjoyable read. I love the writing!
Magic, fae, a lovable heroine and creatures with surprises. I like that Aleria has flaws, makes mistakes and isn't a young woman who cannot fend for herself. She needs her wit and sharp tongue to get out of the mess she is in.

Will surely buy the next instalment!

I love this! ❤️ I love me a female protagonist who is strong but gentle. I loved the banter and the fact that Aleria’s best friend is her cousin. My best friend is my cousin! I don’t see a lot of relationships like that in the books I read so it’s refreshing. And don’t get me started on Larkin, 😏 ...he’s one of my favorites. I definitely had a book high afterwards.

This book is fast paced and very much one to read.

I think the only let down for me was the ending, I felt like it just ended midscene with no explanations really about any background information relating to MyKhal. That being said it does definitely open up to more for book 2!

This Indie Author gets 5 stars from me. I’ve got ships, I’ve got a new book boyfriend, and I’m rooting for Brandi all the way with her fantasy debut!

Honestly, take away the fantasy aspect of this story, and Aleria's love life, her struggles, her will to overcome what has happened to her, her ability to recognize that not all love is created equal, and to have the strength to move on from her past and to open herself up to healthier relationships and to chose a new beginning for herself by setting boundaries is very relatable.

Overall Firebrand was a very fast-paced read. There were strong friendships, passion, vengeance, and self-growth, learning to love after heartbreak— oh and magical hot faeries, duh. I'm looking forward to book 2!
