The Diary of a Black Pearl

Rate this book
Pamela Russell grew up without a father, ran away from home at seventeen, and fled a physically abusive relationship. None of those events kept her from purchasing her first house at twenty-one, putting herself through college, and eventually becoming an investing expert, financial advisor, and economist. When Russell received her COVID-19 diagnosis, it came as a shock, especially since she had researched it for months before her flight and prepared accordingly. She uncovered the virus with mindfulness, but she approached her situation as another opportunity through the power of positive thinking.

The Diary of a Black Pearl is Russell’s inspirational memoir about overcoming life’s obstacles. Both a self-help book covering science, finance, and economics and a nonfiction account of one woman’s journey of self-discovery. The Diary of a Black Pearl tells of the challenges that inspired one woman to change her thinking and highlights the incredible victories you can achieve through Russell’s unique approach to self-help, business, and the coronavirus.

5 stars! This is a page turner. The author unapologetically articulates how she overcame challenges in life - one being the virus. As if the virus isn't enough on its own. Her story captures her rebelliousness and wit. The stories had me going through all sorts of emotions: happiness, sadness, and anger. She provided a glimpse into her world as a Financial Advisor to Consultant and the ever changing economy. The author also offers data and research supporting her science and economic-related statements which us data fans appreciate. Loved it so much I bought extra books for family and friends. Hope to see more novels from this author. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

This book is written very well and the research was great. I learned that many people experience such different symptoms than others. However, it is a wonderful inspiration that the author researched her own symptoms and questioned her ability to progress. I like that she does not give in to what others may disregard. I found myself laughing quite a few times of how she had to handle certain situations in her stories, but it did not deter her from her goals in life. I hope she continues to succeed in the future, as I am sure she is a very strong woman.

I thought it was very well written for a first time author. It was a page turner and I hope she continues to write I will definitely buy and read it. It was very impressive how she overcame so many obstacles and created a successful life for herself. Her illness with Covid and writing about it was particularly informative. I loved the honest and clean writing style and look forward to more offerings in the future.
