Silver in the City #3
Silver and Spice
When Spice asks Silver to fake a relationship with him, Silver agrees. He knows pretending to be involved with the older man will likely come back to bite him in the ass, but if the farce will help Spice and his young son, Silver is totally on board.
All too soon, the consequences of the fake relationship weigh on both Silver and Spice. Will a meddling grandmother, an adorable little boy, and a team of friends be enough to convince Silver and Spice to give a real relationship a shot?
Silver & Spice is a steamy, slow burn M/M age gap, fake relationship, forced proximity romance with a silver fox, silver daddy and a younger man ready for a family.
This is the third book in the Silver in the City series.

This is the third book in the series and A.D. Ellis has been teasing us with this couple since book 1, so for maximum enjoyment read the series in order.
As it's been a constant throughout the series, I loved one of the characters and was annoyed at the other one for at least a part of the story. In this case, I was so annoyed at Bay because his reasons to keep Kyson at, well, bay, were flimsy at best. I get that he was kind of overwhelmed at being Arlo's father after his sister died, but Kyson showed him time and time again that he was interested and that he loved Arlo and was willing to help Bay with him. So, his excuses not to give a real relationship between them a chance until he was pushed into a fake one by his meddling (but awesome) grandma Millie just didn't fly for me. I guess I should be thankful it didn't take Bay as long as Bode to give in. Now, Kyson, I loved to pieces and totally get why he wouldn't say anything. Still, once Bay finally got his head out of his ass, or rather his grandma pushed him and Kyson together (again!), we got to see the fireworks and chemistry at play we'd been promised since the first book.
Watching Kyson and Bay with Arlo, playing with him, taking care of him and just being there for him, was enough to have my heart melting all over the place. Of course, I also loved the interactions of the rest of the guys with the little boy and have them intervening to make Ky and especially Bay see the light and be together already.
This was a slow-burn and maybe that's the kind of books I prefer, because this one and the first book in the series were definitely my favorites. It was sweet, hot and entertaining and I absolutely loved the way Ms. Ellis tied up all the stories in that last chapter, the epilogue and the extras and seeing Bode & Sage, Benji & Rhys, and Kyson, Bay and Arlo starting their HEAs. Very recommendable!

Oh, how I adore Ad Ellis' Silver in the City series. The third book, Silver and Spice, is wonderful, finally gifting us with Bay and Kyson's story.
This story involves a quirky old grandmother who bribes Bay into getting married to Kyson. Thus, from the start I was intrigued. What starts as a fake relationship turns real for these men and it's fantastic. They are so good together. All they needed was a kick in the ass to realize their feelings. If you've been reading along with the series, we knew something good was coming for these two.
Bay's raising his nephew Arlo who's a huge part of the story. And he's a completely enjoyable kid who's adorable.
I love the writing style and the well developed characters. Told in alternating 1st person pov, the reader is quickly drawn into the character's emotions. Their story is quick and fluid, with plenty of steam. It's also full of fun banter and dirty talk that just adds to the fun.
Silver and Spice is a wonderful combination of friends to lovers, fake relationship, and romance. It's a story of fighting what's right in front of you; a story of ignoring your own needs for those of your child. And it's a lot of fun.

I was sooo looking for this book. Kyson and Bay had me intrigued from the first time they met in Silver&Sage. I mean, it was cute watching the way they've been circling each other from the beginning, neither willing to make the first move.
Maybe because of how much Kyson and Bay tried to stay away from each other, I felt like their story was more emotionally and sexually charged than the others. Attraction has been cackling between from the get go, only intensifying the more time they spent around one another. Denying their feelings and their chemistry only amped up the frustration, to the point that something had to give.
All I've got to say is FINALLY! Hangups and doubts forgotten, heads out of backsides, lol, priorities readjusted... eyes and hearts open to admit they're absolutely amazing together. I don't think they stood a chance, anyway, not if their families had any say in it. And they always do. I'll admit that's what I enjoyed most about Silver & Spice and the whole series: this family's unity, their meddlesome style of dealing with situations, the absolute certainty that they'll always have each other's backs. It's been a joy to be a part of their journeys, and to witness each of them find love and happiness.

Silver and Spice picks up where Silver and Gold left off. There was an emergency with Bay so Kyson rushed to the hospital, thinking the worst.
These two! Kyson has feelings for Bay and at times it's hard to understand what Bay is feeling because hes so freaking stubborn! I mean, its admirable, he wants to put his son Arlo first, but he doesn't need to sacrifice love and happiness for himself in order to do so. The perfect partner for him, and second parent for his son is right there in front of his face but hes so blinded by his "life plan" and set in his ways that hes going to lose the best thing that ever happened to him and Arlo.
Ok- confession time! Don't tell any of the other guys I said this, but of all the couples in this series, Kyson and Bay are my favorites. Maybe that's why this book was such an emotional read for me. I was ALL OVER THE PLACE! I laughed, cried a couple times, and stressed out for most of the book because I wanted these two to be happy and I knew in my heart they would be happy together. Don't even get me started on the sexual tension between them. It was so thick you could cut it with a knife.
Silver and Spice had everything I look for in a great book and more, including an adorable little boy and a meddling grandmother who was beyond hilarious. I would love to drink coffee and gossip with Millie, she was the best!
Everyone needs to meet Kyson and Bay. Please remember- I met them first- they are my BESTIES, you can't have them. I'm serious. If you haven't already, you need to meet the other men from The Silver in the City series. They are all FANTASTIC!

8/21/20 Edited to add my comments on the audiobook:
Audio Review:
Overall – 5
Performance – 5
Story – 5
A good end to a great series!
Silver & Spice was a great story when I read it and I enjoyed it just as much, maybe even a little more, listening to the great audio performance by Michael Stone.
Silver & Spice is the final book in the Silver in the City series and I think it's my favorite. Having read the series in order, we've been seeing Kyson and Bay dance around each other and the end of book two left us with a pretty big cliffhanger that is resolved in this book. Bay, who recently became a father to his nephew after his sister died, has been fighting his attraction to Kyson. Kyson is several years younger than Bay and Bay doesn't think it's fair to saddle the younger man with a child so early in his life. This is another seriously steamy book. Kyson likes to talk dirty in the bedroom and Bay loves to hear it.
I love how Bay's grandmother helped force these two to talk and resolve the issues that were causing Bay to keep them apart. There are some really funny scenes in this story involving Grandma Millie and a dildo. I'm not saying anything more. 😊

Finally. This is book three of the series. Bay and Kyson. Ok and Arlo because he is a big part of this story.
These two men have had a connection which starts on book one. Kyson really wants a relationship with Bay but Bay is not willing to take that step. He feels he would be holding Kyson back from freedom of a relationship that doesn’t start with a child involved. Pfft. Kyson loves Arlo already and he wants a family with them.
When they finally get their act together with some great intervention the sparks sure do fly. We see more of their connection and lots of dirty talking.
We get to see the other couples and what they are up to while they give great advice. That epilogue was awesome. It was everything I love to see. The bonus reads were perfect.
Can’t wait for the next series to see more of these guys

There are so many things wrong with this book, it's not even "funny"!! Let me count the ways:
1a. There is SO much tell!! In fact, there is SOOOO much tell, the author spends 95% of the book TELLING us what happens between Kyson & Bay!! WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK!!!
1b. There are so many time jumps that ultimately rob us of seeing/witnessing/experiencing ANY development between the two MCs! Frankly, again, this was convenient enough so the author could rob us from witnessing the story firsthand!! Couple time-jumps with author paraphrasing and it feels like nothing happened, nothing happened, then everything happened, and NOTHING made sense!!
2. The ending was SOOOOOO abrupt and rushed [see 1a and 1b]! It's like the so-called HEA, that I didn't believe in AT ALL, happened simply because the author decided it would be so!! Kind of like: 'So once upon a time, two MCs met, lots of stuff happened and it was great, trust me, because I'm telling you that's how it was, then everyone lived happily ever after, the end!!' - UMMMM WHAT THE FUCK?!? No!!
3. Everyone and their grandmother being involved with the relationship [quite literally]!!! I am not fond of the trope where everyone in the fucking village needs to get involved to make sure these two got together, and they went far enough as to strand them somewhere to drive home the need for communication!! These two would NOT have gotten together had it not been for "the gang" and Bay's grandmother!!! Unbelievable, over the top, ridiculous, and completely obnoxious!!!
4. Frankly, it was clear the author couldn't be bothered to tell this story! Either that or she is used to half-assing like it's going out of style! I'm positive it's a combination of the two!!!! If you coolant be bothered to SHOW the story and involve your readers, then don't bother writing the story, because what's the fucking point?!? I felt cheated out of EVERYTHING here, and the most obnoxious thing is the fact that steadily as this trilogy deteriorated [from book #2], the first book was great!! This author DESTROYED what could have been a great trilogy, but she took something with great potential and half-assed/destroyed it to inevitable literary death!!! The reason I continued by the way, is because glitches do happen, and I though if I gave it a chance, the horrible plot steering would right itself!!
But in the end, a great overall premise, turned into a tragedy!!
P.S. I always find it incredibly weird and off-putting when an author 5-stars their own book!! The gall of doing so for a book as bad as this one is especially obnoxious!!
This author did a HUGE disservice to the couple in this book, this book, and the overall series!! I will not be continuing into the spin-off!! I'm done here!!
I own a few books by this author that I purchased quite a while ago but haven't cracked open yet! I hope they'll disconnect from the style displayed here and that I will absolutely adore them - I have optimism because as rare as it seems to be, from MY experience, this author HAS had a few book hits - but afterward, I'll probably stop with this author and that'll be that!! I WILL give those books a proper, FAIR, positive chance, and again, I do anticipate really enjoying them [and again think those other books will be GREAT - yes, I am getting myself into that positive mindset, because while this author has had a few HITS, there have been way too many misses!! But still I have to remember that when this author writes well, she writes VERY well, so I do have very positive expectations for the series that I currently own and need to read, and anticipate totally adoring], but after those are read, I'm thinking it is time to part ways!! We shall see!!

Silver and Spice is the last book in the Silver in the City series. The first two books should be read first before this one. Book 2 had ended on a little bit of a cliff hanger that goes right into book 3.
The tropes for this romance are age gap, forced-proximity, fake-relationship, and ready-made family. The plot does a really good job of fleshing out these tropes and creating an exciting story. Kyson Silver has been crushing on Bay since the moment he met him. The feeling is mutual, but Bay has his doubts about starting anything romantic with Kyson; first, Bay is a dad and finding someone willing to step up and take on the responsibility that comes with child is hard, and second, Bay is significantly older than Kyson. It takes the meddling of Bay’s grandmother to finally force these two men to take the first steps towards their own happily ever after. And it takes her continued meddling to keep them together and not let their own insecurities ruin their chances of a happy ever after.
The audiobook was narrated by Michael Stone. He has a smooth voice with a steady rhythm. There isn’t a lot of different character voices, but he keeps each person distinct and it was easy to follow along with the audiobook. There was a lot of drama in this book and Michael Stone made sure to add the right inflections to help emphasize the dramatic moments as appropriate. The overall production of the audiobook was well done.

Performance: 4 Stars
Story: 4 Stars
Friends Kyson (34), cousin of the previous two books' MCs, and single dad Bay (48) agree to a fake relationship to secure a family inheritance for Bay's young son.
Both develop deeper feelings in the process but are resigned to remaining just friends, mainly because Bay thinks he's too old for Kyson and worries about saddling him with an insta-family. But Kyson is game for more, if only given the chance.
Book 1 MC Bode sums up the two men's almost romance to Bay rather well: "I see you and Kyson as totally worth the fight, just hope you'll both step in the ring." A bunch of family encouragement, a meddling grandmother, and forced proximity stranded in a cabin later, and Bay and Kyson open the floodgates on their feelings.
This story has a nice balance of internal angst, slow-burn relationship development, and steamy times. The found family aspect of the series among the three Silvers and their partners (who could all do with improving their dirty talk, just sayin') also plays a key role here and seamlessly blends into the love story.
Of the three books in this series, this was my favorite story and performance of narrator Michael Stone. He sounded more natural and at ease as the series progressed, and did a good job with the female and kid voices here too. I received a free review copy of this audio book and have left this honest review voluntarily.

A.D. Ellis started her Silver in The City trilogy strong with Silver and Sage. Nothing is as sexy as someone being crazy about your brain. These two personify opposites attract in every way and their chemistry is palpable!
Silver and Gold brings even more passion and angst. The characters connection spans the entire story and show so much passion.
Silver and Spice is one of a kind. I think it’s my favourite of the series. From the start of the trilogy this story has been building tension and chemistry. The other Silver men have as much riding on Bay and Kyson as they have in their own relationships from the very beginning. The sexual tension is like a living thing between them everywhere they go, the connection and the commitment is like nothing else. The love, is so deep and meaningful. They are a beautiful pair.
Ellis writes the main and side characters with so much passion you can feel it in every chapter! Their depth, emotions and personalities shine through from book to book! Her descriptionS in sweet moments and spicy moments brings life to the story and paints a beautiful picture in readers minds.
The stories are so raw and realistic from hidden love, family drama and inner doubt to finally getting what you’ve always wanted. These beautiful stories will make you believe in true love!

Uggh, I had really been looking forward to Kyson and Bay's story after all the teasing about their mutual attraction in the first two books in the trilogy, but there was too much telling, not enough showing. I wanted to see more relationship building conversations and cuddling instead of what we got which was going straight from "we're friends and most of our friendship involves care for Bay's kid" to "we're obviously in love because we have a ton of sex." Plus, I hated that they needed not one but two interventions to get them to admit their real feelings. I mean, how stubborn and dense can you possibly be to get through living together as fake boyfriends for a month, sleeping in the same bed, and slip into each other's lives easily and never talk about wanting it to continue for real.
Also, minor irritation here, I get that the book is titled Silver and Spice because of Kyson's last name and the fact that Bay is named after two different spices--Carraway Bay--but his name isn't actually Spice, so why in the blurb is he called Spice as if it's his name?

Finally it is Bay and Ky's story! I've been waiting for these two since they met in the first book, and I wasn't disappointed. They have insane chemistry and the slow burn before they finally give in is delicious! Both of them are keeping the other at arm's length, Bay especially. He doesn't want to burden Ky with suddenly becoming a parent to Arlo, and he's convinced that it has to stay that way... even when Ky is the only one he can turn too for a huge favour. Their fake relationship was killing me because they weren't communicating, and so thank goodness for Bay's grandmother and her sneaky methods to get them to talk. There was no holding back for them after that!
I've enjoyed all the Silver in the City stories, and it's definitely too hard to pick a favourite. They'll all be a comfort re-read for me.

Wow!! Tears in my eyes and just in love with that ending! It was everything I needed!!
I couldn’t help but just stalk these two throughout the other books and hope for something to jump out at them. Bay seemed to be so stubborn and needed a good back of the head slap to open his eyes! Kyson needed to just open his mouth and say something but they both seemed to think it was spoken about with out so many words. I loved Bay’s grandmother so much and laughed at her antics!
Reading about all Kyson had to offer as far as his profession begged me to make my own massage appointment! I love that these 3 men who had such huge dreams and worried their dreams would come true but with issues. I am in awe of what we find out in this last chapter and just all around in awe of Kyson and Bay. Loved this!

I haven t read the rest of the books but this one felt silly AF. From the grandmother to the 2 MC's who acted like children in stead of the grown ups they were. Half the book they didn t talk to each other about their feelings bc both apparently knew better what the other one wanted. One MC thought he was to old for a relationship and in his heroism decided all by himself he will spear the other MC of such a complicated situation. And the other MC gets pissed off bc his love interest doesn t fight for him although he never confessed his feelings for him and the minute the charade is over he ignores the little boy he claims to love and goes out on a date. I m now thinking 3 stars is too much.

Finally...Love!!!!
I'm sad that the series is ending but happy to finally be able to read Kyson and Bay's story. It was very frustrating! Hahaha! I felt like the first two books in the series also included all the foreplay for Ky and Bay so when it was time for their story, things would just happen. I don't want to ruin it for any of you future readers but they take a few more frustrating turns until these guys realize what is right in front of them. And then it's all honesty, romance and hot chemistry. It's a well written story and I love the updates to all of the guys that we get!!

What an awesome conclusion to the Silver in the City series! These guys though! Just can't get enough of them. Ms. Ellis has given her characters so much sophistication, empathy, grit and heart, it is absolutely impossible to not love them all. Reality shines through in each and every book in this series, allowing the reader a strong connection to the characters and giving us that feeling of being able to relate. A definite must read!
I was gifted a copy of this book and am voluntarily giving my honest opinion.

Push Together!
Silver and Spice: Great final book in the series. Loved all the titles. Very spicy romance that started with a strong friendship. Fantastic writing all around. Great story telling and I loved all the characters. I loved how much Bay want to always put Arlo first and his romance wasn't as important. Kyson cared so much for Bay and Arlo it was a challenge but his feeling for both were so strong that it was hard when they were faking it and it took Bay's grandmother get them to realize they need the love. I loved it.

audio review
Silver & Spice is book 3 in the Silver in the City series. This is an enjoyable slow burn, age gap, fake relationship, force proximity book about Bay and Kyson. Bay is a single dad and doesn't want to burden Kyson with parent responsibles if they are together so Bay keeps him in the friend zone despite wanting more. I love Bay's grandmother and her involvement in getting Bay and Kyson together. They really are better together for real and not pretend. And Arlo is just the sweetest. Narrator Michael Stone does another fabulous job in the series.

A very slow burn romance between two stubborn men who can't figure out that they are both attracted to one another and that they are perfect for each other. Did love the ending where it ties in all three couples from this series and gives us their futures and show that they are still happy years later.
The audio on this was good, however, there wasn't enough distinction in the voices for Kyson and Bay and it led to me constantly having to look at the display to see whose chapter I was on to know the speaker. Other than that he did a great job on the narration.

I know it actually hasn’t been long, but I feel like I’ve been waiting for Kyson and Bay’s story forever! Well now I have it and I loved it. Definitely my favourite of the series, Silver and Spice is funny, heartwarming and sexy. It takes some pretty elaborate hijinks to finally get the men together but when they do it’s wonderful. With some wrap up stories at the end to tie the whole series together as an extra treat it made the book even more enjoyable.

This is a great book to end the series on, even if I did want to shake some sense into Bay for a lot of the book, hell, for the series in general. It takes a very young at heart and often inappropriate grandma meddling to eventually light a fire under these two. I love the relationship between all the guys and the way they all chip in to take care of little Arlo.
I thought that this was a really cute series of books, a really cozy read.

I have been waiting for this book since the series started. I loved that the relationship between Kyson and Bay is teased throughout the other two books. It was a great to watch the slow build up of their relationship and them over come their demons. Each of the guys over comes their inner turmoil to become a strong couple and a great family unit. I loved watching them become a family.

I have to admit, I skimmed a lot of this book, especially the sex scenes. The characters were fine. It’s your typical insipid romance story propelled solely by the fact that the characters don’t communicate. Seriously, nobody’s going to forgive being stranded that easily or just shrug their shoulders and say “OK, let’s fall in love.”

May 2, 2021I loved this book. Bay asked Kyson to be his fake boyfriend to help his son. But can Kyson suffer the consequences of the charade with his heart intact. He loves Bay and he doesn't know how to tell him his heart is involved. Can Bay's grandmother, son, and all their friends nudge them in the right direction? Will they grabbed the love of a lifetime or walk away?

My favorite out of the 3 books! They were all good, but this one had all the best stuff! There was slow burn, hilarious family match making, dirty talk, steamy filthy mess sex, devotion, love, happily ever afters, ice cream, adoptions, kids, ducksedos, puppies, babies, and Disney. It doesn't get a whole lot better!
And then it did!
Some perfect, and some seriously funny, wrap ups to the Silver boys finding love in the city. The the extras at the end were like the sprinkles and cherry on top of a sundae!
Each AD Ellis book seems to get better and better! Loved it.
