About the author

John Ramstead is an internationally known leadership expert, podcast host, business coach, and author. John is the founder of Beyond Influence, and the national podcast host of Eternal Leadership. Pulling from his own personal challenges and setbacks, including being forced out of his dream job flying F-14's after a freak baseball accident, surviving a near-fatal horsing accident, resulting in 2 years of hospital care and loss of sight in one eye, John equips leaders to find new purpose in the face of setbacks and mundane living. In the midst of a long, painful recovery and through much prayer, John did find new purpose to help other business leaders overcome obstacles and discover their passions and purpose. He began the Eternal Leadership Podcast in 2014, which has grown tremendously, with over 350 episodes airing all over the world with his stories, wisdom, and the insight of many great business leaders.

John currently lives in Colorado with his wife of 31 years. They have 3 boys, 1 daughter-in-law and 1 grandson! John uses his combined experience as a Navy combat fighter pilot, Fortune 500 manager and serial entrepreneur to help business people and their teams reach their full potential…all while still passionately pursuing his purpose of leveraging the very valuable lessons he’s learned to help others create their best life.

I almost gave up on the idea of living with a purpose because I am more of a Jack of all trades and master of none. The exercises in this book have reignited my excitement about living with purpose. The book is full of great true stories that make it fun to read and inspire me to do the work included at the end of each chapter. Thanks to this book I am now crystal clear on my top priority values and have a written plan on how I am living them on a daily basis. I highly recommend this book.

John Ramstead is passionate about empowering people and this book is filled with the tools to do just that. Every page leads you through a journey to bring clarity and formulate a plan to move toward the fulfillment of your purpose. I plan on pulling out this toolbox regularly, both for myself and those that I coach, mentor, and lead. This is the kind of book I wish I would have had at the beginning of my journey! Now that I have it, I plan on integrating it into the pursuit of my purpose.

John's book is written with honesty and compassion. He helps you find your life's purpose, your God given calling. Your True North. Finding your calling makes all the difference in life. Despite some very challenging physical circumstances, it has enabled John to live a life on purpose, a life filled with joy and fulfillment. Such a life is possible for us as well.

An inspiring story of an aspiring Top Gun pilot overcoming crazy difficult circumstances when everything goes sideways. Learning and applying great life lessons (learned in his upbringing, military training, life threatening accidents and business), and funnel them into a very successful life model.

Amazing story of overcoming physical AND mental obstracles -- ones that most people will never experience. Some of the naval/pilot terms were a little hard to understand in the contexts he used them, but, otherwise, a lot of great information on how to map out your life, especially as a Christian.
