Quint earns his private investigator's license and heads off to Los Angeles to celebrate. Within a day of arriving, an old friend, now a Hollywood producer, tells Quint that he fears for his life.
He's dead by the next morning. While Cara sees the seedy Hollywood underbelly for what it truly is, Quint ignores her warnings and sets off to catch the killer.
With limited knowledge of Hollywood and an ever-increasing list of suspects, Quint has finally bitten off more than he could chew.
Combining elements of the noir and the whodunnit, Hollywood Murder Mystery will keep you guessing until the final page!
I’m really liking these Quint books. The way the author navigates the mystery is interesting. It is like we are solving it with Quint. His description of Hollywood is amusing. The only thing I didn’t like was Quint’s attraction to another woman. It tainted my view of him and his relationship with Cara. I hope they stay together, but I’m worried about their future as a couple. I’m off to read the next book in the series. Fingers crossed!
How do you do this? I can't stop reading when I pick up one of your pieces of work. Quint and Cara are such an amazing couple. He has gotten his PI license. You could have knocked me over with a feather with the ending. Keep up the amazing work. How about a wedding proposal?
Quint Adler books are an easy read and usually contain enough twists and turns to keep good pace however this one was average for me. The title could've been "what quint thinks" because of the amount of inner monologuing that takes place. At frost this writing style reminded me of old PI movies where the actors progressed the story with an "internal" monologue from time to time but this book may have over used this old school trope in my opinion.it wasn't a bad story but a few continuity errors here and there stood out. I will be continuing my reading of the Quint Adler stories knowing some are great, some are ok, and some may end up bad.
I don’t normally write reviews but this (and the first two book) held my attention until I got halfway through the book. I read about Rex who’s named changed to Max and back and forth. I reread the chapter three times so confused. Was this book edited? I lost confidence in the author. I’ll try book4 but I’m going in skeptical. Good writers should have good editors. Period.
I got turned onto Brian O’Sullivan when I heard he centered his books around my old stomping grounds in the Bay Area in CA. His books are fast paced and very enjoyable. I recommend his work without reservation.
Independent publishing authors deserve our support. Pick up the first book in this series and you will be hooked.
I couldn't put this book down, I finished it in a day and a half. The story was compelling and the characters believable. My only disappointment was that the book ended and I have to wait for the next Shiny Adler adventure.
I have to say this author is writing great books. He kept me interested from start to finish and a this one had a great great conclusion. Will start the next book right now.
Brian O Sullivan is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. The main character is so likable and funny and the plot lines are so engaging. I haven’t guessed one outcome correctly yet so on to the next Quint book.
Quint Adler is now a licensed private investigator, and he heads to LA on vacation with his girlfriend Cara. While there, he gets a call from an old friend in Hollywood. They meet for drinks and he tells Quint that he’s afraid for his life. The next morning, he’s found dead. Quint feels compelled to investigate, and Hollywood is full of secrets…
This is Quint Adler book #3. I gave book #1 five stars and book #2 four stars. This is my least favorite of the series so far. It started well, and I do like Quint Adler as a character. I didn’t love this version of him though—just asking the same questions to everyone, drinking too much, commenting about how he would sleep with all the beautiful women if he didn’t love Cara. It was like a seedier, less capable version of Quint and I didn’t care for it. I also didn’t think the case was that compelling, and it felt like Quint’s “investigative skills” were lacking in this one. I enjoyed the first half of the book more than the second half, which got repetitive and frankly a bit boring for me. Also, this is picky, but on page 167 there are not one, not two, but FOUR instances of the character “Rex” being called “Max”. On the same page! Mr. O’Sullivan needs a better editor (may I please volunteer??). By the time of the "big reveal", when the antagonist was monologuing at Quint, I just didn't care. Overall, this one missed the mark for me, but I do like the author’s writing style usually. I’m not sure if I’ll continue the Quint Adler series but I recommend “Revenge at Sea” if you want to give him a try!

Quint Adler and his girlfriend, Cara, are finally enjoying the vacation they wanted after solving the serial murder case, The Bay Area Butcher. Since the both worked on this case, Quint has now decided to get his PI license and Cara will help on cases he may get.
Little did they know that being on vacation, would throw them into another case. Quint has been contacted by one of his old friends there in Hollywood, and since they are in the area, they all have dinner and drinks together. When Connor breaks the news to Quint, that he would actually like to hire him, seems someone is trying to kill him. Quint and Cara agree to meet him the next day and discuss the case. When they arrive to meet Connor, they find his dead body and he has been beaten. But, he is is still alive and before he dies, he whispers the name "Echo".
So now Quint and Cara are thrown into investigating the case of who murdered one of his friends. But, Cara, has had enough of the Hollywood and all the deaths and wants to go home. Quint is now on his own and trying to solve this case, he will again be facing his own death!
Today’s post is on “Hollywood Murder Mystery,” by Brian O’Sullivan, a fun third book in the Quint Adler series. Quint is a former criminal reporter and now private investigator who is someone that seems to find bad situations. In this latest one, he is asked to come to Hollywood to visit with a friend who wants to retain him. Quint and his girlfriend go visit, and when having drinks, the friend tells him someone is after him, but wants to wait until the next day. The next day is too late, as the friend is killed, his last word, “Echo.”
Quint finds himself in a variety of trouble, eventually solving the case. His girlfriend goes back to the Bay Area, not interested in being exposed the constant danger Quint finds himself in. I first met Brian on Twitter or Goodreads, and he messaged me to check out his books. Brian has a very engaging reading style and I have enjoyed all of the books. If looking for some easy entertaining reading, you have found it.
Brian O’Sullivan has found his own Travis McGee in the Quint Adler series. In this installment, the crime-reporter-turned-private-detective has fully committed, earning his California credentials. His first official case is thrust upon him while vacationing in Los Angeles, where he is a fish out of water, thrown into the deep end.
As a cinephile, I especially enjoyed all the clin d'œils to old, new, west, north, and classic Hollywood, as well as the dark corners of the horror film industry.
As always, O’Sullivan keeps you guessing, with a cast of mysterious characters and twists that I did not see coming to the very end.
Yet another exciting story in the Quint Alder series. This is book 3 and I enjoy a series that keeps the main characters that become involved in a new mystery thriller. This time Quint visits an old friend in LA to start off his new role as a private investigator. Unfortunately his friend is murdered and Quint ends up trying to find out who did it. Other murders follow, and Quint may be next. He has many suspects and they all had could be the killer but I did not expect who actually was guilty. O'Sullivan is a new author for me but I have truly enjoyed the first 3 books and will be reading all 8. Highly recommend if you enjoy murder mystery thrillers.
Another awesome read, the story moved at a fast pace, and it kept me guessing who the murderer was. I thought I had totally figured it out and dammit, I was totally wrong. Brian did drop a couple of bread crumbs, but i didn't pick up on them. The story has it all, intrigue, murder, and mayhem. If you are not familiar with this author, you are missing out. He has several books out and I've read them all, not a bad one in the bunch. The Quint Adler Thriller is not a standalone, so I suggest reading the first 2 books first. Book 4 is coming out in July, and I cannot wait.
Brian O'Sullivan is an Indie writer living the life in California. I like his style and his storytelling. This was his third book in the Quint Adler series. Quint has quit his journalist job to become a PI. While on a short vacation with his love, Cara they run into an old friend. After hearing that Quint was a PI his friend the movie producer decided to hire Quint to find the person who wants him dead. enjoy.
The first two books are the classic amateur detective cracks the case. This one moves Quiet into the real PI role with fits and starts of a newbie. A fun read especially if you liked the first two.
Brian O'Sullivan is the new king of the Whodunits!
The Quint Adler series is only getting better! I've loved Brian's other main characters in his previous novels but we get to know Quint on a higher level. Can't wait for the next one Nine Days in Vegas
Another fantastic thriller from Brian O'Sullivan! This one continues the Quint Adler series and takes place in Hollywood. It kept me guessing until the very end!
What a Ride!!! Once again O'Sullivan has pulled me in and had me on the edge of my seat this ENTIRE book!!! Just when I thought I had it figured out.... WHAM...NOPE!!! Phenomenal book. Can't wait to see what Quint Adler, P.I gets into next.
Im a huge fan of Brian O’Sullivan , although I come tardy to the party. Quint Adler is a fascinating character and this is the third of five books about him. The stories are rich in twists and the characters are developed to perfection. You won’t regret your time reading his work.
Another amazing book by Brian O’Sullivan!! The plot was exciting from the start, and the twists and turns were shocking!! Everyone was a suspect! That being said, I never ever saw the ending coming!! Can’t wait to read the next book in the series!!!
The first two books were definitely more engaging for me. This one was just okay—didn’t quite hit the same mark. I’m on the fence about continuing the series, but since I’ve already bought the next installment, I might give it a shot.
Not as good as the last 2 in the series. Quint spent too much time talking about how the ladies were flirting with him and not enough time detecting. Didn’t read like a true PI novel.
