About the author

Bryan Holme (1913-1990) was an author and publisher of photographic and art books. He came to the United States in 1929 and subsequently founded Studio Publications, which published art and illustated books; he also published The Studio, a London-based art magazine. It was later acquired by Viking Press.

Shame the GoodRead entry doesn't have a cover photo because this book is all about the pictures. After a short text-heavy introduction it delves into just pictures with tiny paragraphs of text, and since the book isn't long (my copy is ~80 pages) it turns into an extremely quick read. The content isn't great, it focuses more on telling you about specific feasts and festivals rather than educating you on general practices, which is a bit frustrating if you're looking for an in-depth resource. But what's there is good, well written, and very pretty, so what more do you want.
