Based on the author’s teaching book ‘How to Teach New Tricks with Words’ , this book gives the complete teaching method and hints and tips not contained in the research publication ‘New Tricks with Mental Maths’ - Unlocking the Secrets behind successful mental arithmetic using Neuro-linguistic Programming as a basis. Number recognition like word recognition for reading or spelling is a visual skill in the occipital lobe (the brain’s center for the visual perception system), at the rear of the brain. Only about 50% of the population pick up this skill naturally for words and slightly more for numbers, although there appears (in 2020 to be no conclusive evidence here). The other 50% are not great at literacy and/or numeracy or are labelled as having dyscalculia or dyscalculia. NLP is invaluable for unlocking the secrets and those secrets as a key to learning and subsequently life. Using NLP and stories this book shows how to learn and keep hold of the times tables in the mind/brain/visual memory. Multiplication is a main tool for many forms of maths such as algebra, calculus, equations and more. The ability to practice and understand multiplications up to and including 12 enables us to confidently and skillfully tackle more complex mathematical subjects. How to Teach New Tricks with Mental Math both repeats the teaching method given in the previous research evidence book and gives more information on resources used and methods of sensory learning.
