Love Lessons is book two of a three-book prequel series to "Ghosted".
Love Lessons is a new adult chick-lit medical drama, with splashes of clean romance. Expect an unputdownable emotional page-turner that will take you deep into the life lessons of a student midwife.
After overcoming her anxiety to get through her first year of midwifery training, Violet is back for Year Two.
Feeling confident and full of enthusiasm, it seems nothing can stop her...but her happiness does not last. When she is faced with unfamiliar placements, exams, and self-doubt, she finds herself unable to turn to her best friend Zoe for support.
It's time for Violet to find the answers to questions even more challenging than those she will come up against in her exams.
Where does she fit into Zoe's life? Who is she without her best friend? Is it time she got professional support to put an end to her anxiety?
Another great book in the series regarding Violet and her turbulent life. From friendships, to family to uni courses to love. Lots happening and it's great going on the journey with her Thanks Jayne for another brilliant book in the series.....I'm off to start the next!
Holy crap!! If I thought Life Lesson's was good, this book topped it!! I loved every aspect of it. We are continuing Violet's journey through school to become a midwife and she is faced with anxiety trying to knock her down once again. The drama with her, Luke, and Zoe was so fun to read about. I would like to put a warning that Violet does deal with severe anxiety and medication is a discussion point. It was an issue for me as I deal with anxiety myself however it wasn't a huge issue for me once I reached the halfway point or so, so just heads up for that. I cannot wait for book three. I don't want this series to end, I love Violet and Zoe so much!! 2 people found this helpful
This is the second book in the Lessons of a Student Midwife Series and continues the saga of Violet. she's still struggling with her anxiety to become a midwife. The saga continues with Violet and her roommate Zoe and we're left with a little cliffhanger. No shortage of drama or emotions. The third and final book should end the saga. I read an arc and voluntarily chose to review
Vi and Zoe return to uni for their second year, back to their student house that they share with Luke. But things are different this year – Zoe has found love. Having been best friends since they were kids, they now have to manage this new aspect to their friendship and it doesn’t go well. Vi is so used to Zoe being there to help her manage her anxieties, and she realises she needs to do this alone. But they also have a new housemate Carl, quiet and mysterious, can they get to know him to? Will Vi be able to manage her second year without Zoe constantly by her side? And will their friendship survive?
Although its been a while since I read the first book, Life Lessons, it all came back to me and I couldn’t wait to catch up with Vi, Zoe and Luke. This book picks up where book one ends, and I was excited to see what would happen in their second year of uni. I loved that they were all excited to be back together, but things have definitely changed this year. (Not saying too much as don’t want to ruin things for anyone that hasn’t read book 1!).
There are so many challenges that Vi has to learn to deal with – Managing her ever changing friendship with Zoe, their new housemate Carl, uni pressures and anxiety. And she does a brilliant job. At times she does sound a bit like a sulky child, but its good to watch her grow through her struggles. As with the first book, Rowney does a fantastic job of illustrating some of the realities of living with anxiety. I’ve felt the things Vi feels, and I was so proud of her.
Again, this doesn’t really feel like a story. It feels like you’re reading the memoirs of Vi, and that you’re going along on the journey with her. Having just finished my second year at uni too, this was a great time to read it and I’ll make sure I read the next one in my third year.
As well as talking about the challenges of being a student, and managing the challenges of growing up, the reader also gets a real insight into the life of a student midwife which is fantastic. And happily there isn’t too much gore!
So if you’re looking for a book where you can really go on a journey with the protagonist, watch them grow and enjoy the time you spend with them, then this is for you. Yet, again highly recommended by me. I can’t wait to read book 3!
I absolutely loved this book, which is the second in the series following Violet on her journey to become a midwife!
In this book Violet is in the second year of studying having successful completed her first year of training in the previous book. It was well written and such a nice read, I got really in to the story and loved following Violet and seeing the relationships she has change and develop.
I loved that she came more in to her own too and how her relationship with Zoe also changed allowing her to become a little more independent and I loved the introduction of the new house mate to Tangiers Court to give the book a different feel to the first in the series.
The characters are wonderful, so well developed and genuine. I loved every page and the ending of the book was just great and such a fantastic read.
It is 5 stars from me for this one – very highly recommended and I have already been recommending it! I have already downloaded the third and final book in the trilogy and can’t wait to get started on that one - so watch out for that review too next week!
It is such a brilliant series and I cannot recommend it highly enough!!
Thank you so much to J.E. Rowney for the pdf download of love lessons this is a story about a student midwife named violet and her friend Zoe have lived with Luke for about a year off campus and they have a new roommate named Carl this book was good the plot was perfect the writing was good, it had friendship, romance, studying and some anxiety all mixed in I think everybody has a little bit of anxiety especially when taking a test, starting something new or something that just stresses you out I think violet is going to be an amazing midwife I loved all of the characters Violet, Zoe, Luke and Carl I think being the third and fourth wheel is hard for anyone I like how their all spending time with their new housemate Carl getting to know him a little more I think midwifes are kind of cool and important but it is probably a lot of studying if you really love something and your passionate about it go for it I would recommend this book to my friends and family Laura8759.
I received this book as an ARC from the author. I LOVED IT SO MUCH. It is an amazing continuation of the story of Violet and her schooling to become a midwife. I love her friendship with Zoe. The book is so amazing and well written that I felt I was right there with Violet the entire book. I laughed, I cried and I did not want it to end. This story brought me back to my university days, to all the memories from way back then (especially starting to date the guy who would become my husband just like Zoe) and made me want to talk to my old friends. I can not wait until the next story comes out.
Why J.E. Why do you leave me hanging like this 🤣 Once again I was swept up in the story. Lost the concept of time and just got wrapped up in vi and zo... Poor vi needs to start believing in herself and I hope that this will come in the next installment I'm so happy that zo seems to be living her best life. Bring on the next ❤️
This is the second in a three part series by J.E. Downey. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story and look forward to the 3rd story to come up for sale. The story is about the friendship between 2 young women that started when they were little girls. Now they are in college and other people and life gets in the way of this friendship. I loved it and certainly would and will recommend it.
Book two in the series, Violet is in her second year training as a midwife, trying to get her anxiety under control, her best friend Zoe has a boyfriend...and less time for her. Easy read, enjoyable and I'm growing very fond of Violet! Looking forward to the final book in the prequel series #jerowney #lovelessons
Book 2 with Vi and Zoe in their second year of university. Things are changing this year and Vi and Zoe drift apart. Love interferes with the friends. I enjoyed this book about Vi and the lessons she learned about friendship and love. I received this book as an ARC and this is my honest review.
