A practical guide to the professional skills and knowledge essential for effective case management. For students in a range of professional programs and practitioners in the allied health and human service sectors.
This was an assigned textbook for a psychotherapy course. The authors make no bones about its hardships. Equally, they argue for its viability and importance to helping a client with complex issues. They are aware that not everyone has the cut to be a case manager but urge psychologists, social workers, and human services professionals to consider answering the job ads for case managers. They offer views as to why competent case managers with leadership skills are required in the contemporary world. Examples of cases needing multi-prong assistance are given in the book. I recommend this book for its balanced treatment of what case management is all about.
