It has been 100 years since the devastating alien invasion swept Earth. The peace treaty, Earth's only protection from the hostile invaders, is about to expire. The invading race of fierce warriors requires a sacrifice, and that sacrifice is Avi.
Avi's life has been one of tedium and misery, working as a slave in a remote mining district. Every man she has come across in this dark dystopian world has offered her nothing but pain and abuse, and now she is to be sacrificed to an alien warlord to carry his child.
Nevak is the ambassador of the cold and dark planet Zahoth. He has been tasked to come to earth and accept a human sacrifice on behalf of his warrior race. He has traveled the stars for decades converting planets to his species’ way of life, but he has always felt something missing inside him. It is not until he meets Avi that he even begins to dream of another type of life.
They are from vastly different, warring planets, and have been reluctantly forced together in the name of peace. But everything might not be as it seems…
The writing and editing of the ARC version of the manuscript was quite rough, with the manuscript having multiple typos per page, incorrectly constructed sentences, and flipping back and forth between present and past tense constantly. The world building was poor, with me not getting any sense of the landscape or culture of either Earth or the alien planet. The characterization was thin, with the hero and heroine having no complexity, nuance, or distinct, vibrant personalities. As a consequence of the poor characterization, I was completely unmoved by their romantic relationship. I did not witness these two characters going through the process of falling in love. The heat level was two chili peppers because the language and terms used to describe the intimate scenes was awkward and the opposite of sexy. The plot was okay. I would consider it as probably the most competently written part of the novel. The pacing was slow because the poor writing made it difficult for me to finish the novel. This novel had low angst and high stakes, which tends to be one of my preferred narrative structures for a romance novel, but I did not enjoy it in this case. This novel used the Mars Needs Women trope. The world building was two stars. The plot and pacing were three stars. The characterization and development of the romantic relationship were both one star. I therefore gave this novel a combined rating of two stars. This novel ended on a Happy Ever After ending instead of a cliffhanger ending, which was a big plus. I do not recommend this novel to other readers who enjoy sci-fi romances until it has gone through several rounds of alpha reading, beta reading, and professional editing, if possible. I am not currently interested in reading the next book in this series when it releases. I do not plan to buy myself a keeper copy of this novel.

I am looking forward to the next book in this series! This story has action, adventure and romance.. A lottery has been held to sacrifice one woman in order to save Earth from horrible, violent alien monsters. Avi 2564 is the winner (loser?). The alien Nephara are working with the government to deliver Avi to the Zahothian Nevak. Avi finds out that everything she was taught may not be the truth. Can they save each other? What will happen to Earth? This is a good story with a lot of history of the different races. Great start for an interesting new series.

Absolutely loved this book, its riveting and interesting with an underlying plot to carry into the next book, however this is a HEA for Avi and Nevak. The writing and characters are compelling, captivating and the book holds your interest until the end. The book is not very dark at all and Avi is a feisty smart independent woman while Nevak is an honorable, protective and extremely hot Alien. Lots of action and suspense and I loved how Avi and Nevak are in tune with each other at the end, relying on and trusting each other. A solid start to the new series, excited to read the next book.

I was looking forward to this book and actually purchased the second book, rather than getting it on kindle unlimited as I wanted to carry straight on reading without having to download the second book. How I wish I'd only got book one on ku. I found it disjointed, with incorrect words used frequently. The part where the male protagonist was introduced was very peculiar in its wording, compared to the previous section and actually made me exclaim out loud in annoyance several times. I got to 41% but couldn't put up with it any more. Sorry, I'm sure loads of work must have gone into it but it seems to have been released without much checking.
Interesting concept, but underdeveloped story/world and instant childish love spoiles it.
Interesting concept, but underdeveloped world/story and instant, almost child like love spoiled it for me. The author could've fleshed out the story and created main H behaving as a grown women not a teenage girl. And whats with that ill give them a show part of the book? Those who read the book knows what I'm talking about. No normal women behave this way in such a situation. You would be embarrassed and intimidated. On good note, the world author created sound interesting, but as I mentioned above she failed to built it up properly. That's my take on this book.
First, DNF. I tried, tried so dang hard but as soon as they went from "your whole life and history is a lie" to "lets make out on this operating table"..... I just threw my hands in the air and said, nope. I actually LOVED the story, original, fresh BUT and this a huge, big, covered in spandex, jiggling all over the place BUT, the writing was just not well done. Forget the massive amounts of grammar and punctuation issues, the flow was off. It made me so incredibly sad because I really did love the story idea.
I did like the story even though some parts were just to unbelievable. There were so many typos, my English teacher wouldn't even grade it. My favorite part was where Avi went and Dave his life. It was suppose to be, save his life. The glaring errors were when a word had a number in it. You can'1t miss them. Even with all this, I'd most likely read the next one. The first story ends, but the second is teased into it.
I hate giving 1 star reviews but this book was just bad. It started out so well but after the main characters meet it went downhill fast. There was zero relationship build up, I love you in 30 minutes of meeting and the females mc was childish and annoying. I am no a reader that gets all up in arms over grammer mistakes and editing issues but several times the characters were called by the wrong names. It was lazy writing at that point.
Sacrificed to the Warrior/A Dark Alien Breeder Romance story that kept me turning pages. Avi and Nevak Drokhoggo's story has suspense, drama, danger, villains, twists, turns, and romance. This is a new Author to me and I will be watching to see if there is more to come in this series. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Avi is no one's slave and gets in trouble with the lashes scars to prove it. Avi is caught again and now pain, rape and death are her likely outcomes until the General intervenes. Now she is told she will become the mate to the dreaded Zahoth.
