Start a new holiday tradition and celebrate what makes each child unique with this giftable boxed set that comes with a timeless picture book and a lovable, huggable plush. Reindeer in Here celebrates that being different is normal.
This holiday legend from long, long ago is a very special story that children should know. A kind and true reindeer with one antler small miraculously changed Christmas once and for all.
At holiday time, a special little reindeer with mismatched antlers shows up as an early gift from Santa to stay with each child and go on daily adventures with them. The reindeer learns the child’s true Christmas wishes (and makes sure Santa does as well), all the while encouraging the child to celebrate their own differences. It’s a new holiday tradition the whole family will love!
“I named my reindeer Rocket. I am so sad that he will have to leave after Christmas because I already love him so much. I like that he has one little antler, it’s so cute. I like his friends too.” - Luke
I loved this! So much better than elf on a shelf in my opinion 😂 - Mama
The North Pole gains a new member in the form of a reindeer, who has two, differently sized antlers, but then, there are many reindeer, which are different in their own ways. Just like kids. Santa runs into troubles, since a number of kids don't send their Christmas wishes to him. So, he's not sure what their wishes are. This little reindeer realizes that the wishes are different from kid to kids and comes up with a plan to help. And that's where the stuffed reindeer inside of this set comes into play.
This set arrives in a nice box, which introduces the book and cover on the front while leaving the rest to look like a wooden container harboring a live animal inside. It flaps open on the side, which is held into place with a little velcro. Inside the box, the book is placed on the left (held in place by a little cardboard) and the reindeer is on the right. The reindeer holds a distinct, individual appearance, is soft, and sized just right for small cuddles and carrying around.
The book is well done with bright illustrations, which will catch the eye. The story is written in rhyme, usually flowing well, and tells a cute tale of how this reindeer helps Santa and ends up in the reader's home. The story not only carries the message that everyone is different in their own way, but also gives the background of the reindeer to make the stuffed one included a little more special.
It's a cute present for young readers at Christmas time, which is sure to put a smile on the face. I received a complimentary copy and have no doubt that kids will enjoy it.
Reindeer in Here introduces readers to a new Christmas tradition for those, like me, who aren't fond of the Elf on the Shelf. The story introduces readers to a young reindeer who's a bit different (one antler is smaller than the other). The reindeer is intended to befriend a child and 'learn' about the child's likes and dislikes and wishes. As a friend, the reindeer is to go on 'adventures' with your child and share the things learned with Santa. The child gets to name the reindeer and take it to visit different places. The idea seems to be to encourage children to believe that being different is normal, everyone is unique in their own way. There is also a TV program that goes with the toy and book. While the book's poetry isn't the best, the idea is a cute one. The story suggests having the reindeer 'disappear' on Christmas morning after Santa's visit, although the reindeer can return as needed. This tradition can be adapted by each family as desired. The reindeer stuffy is pretty cute, and the tradition a more positive one than Elf on the Shelf. The little reindeer could also be a way to help a child who is having a hard time waiting for Christmas to come.
I received a boxed set from Simon & Schuster and the review's entirely my own.
I was excited to receive my book and plush gift set as I am always looking to make Christmas a magical time for my children before they get too old to still have that wonder and awe left for this season.
It is definitely Elf on the Shelf-ish. However, what I like about this is that it talks about how we are different (not imperfect) and unique so Santa needs to get to know each child better in order to give them the present that best suits them. In sending out a reindeer to each child, the reindeer can then report back to Santa about their child's interests. The one big difference is that you can touch the reindeer doll, carry it with you anywhere, and give it a cuddle whenever. While the Elf is all about not touching it, you know the children will not hesitate to reach out and snuggle up with the soft furry reindeer. It's a great gift and a great tradition to start with the little ones.
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5) Santa needs help learning about all the good boys and girls Christmas wishes. One little reindeer, who's a bit different from the others, comes up with a great idea to help that involves YOU, the reader!
A great alternative to Elf on the Shelf! Treat your new reindeer friend like a "Flat Stanley" and have fun adventures with your little one throughout December.
Highlights: Set includes book, reindeer plush, and beautifully illustrated storage box. High quality materials.
Lowlights: Although the book introduces the reader to different reindeer, there is no variation in the reindeer plush available.
