Strange New England by Thomas D'Agostino and Arlene Nicholson was a spur of the moment "let's get the kids out of the house for a second" buy from Booklovers' Gourmet in Webster (which is the most precious little bookstore). They have used and new books, arts, crafts, and knick-knacks from local artists and vedors, a café, and they host book signings and events, leading me to how we bought this book.

Thomas and Arlene are paranormal investigators in the New England area, and since our niece Victoria has been obsessed with the paranormal events in our house I thought maybe she would be interested (she was not lol).

We didn't stay for much of the presentation, but I did end up walking away with Strange New England.

I love New England's rich history and crazy stories, and this book touches upon many legends and historical characters I actually hadn't heard of before. Vampires and witches of course are huge spoopy stories that everyone hears about, but the book also includes out-dated traditions, eccentric millionaires, unexplained phenomenon, and goes into several accounts during the Spiritualist movement during the 1800-1900s. You know, where everyone was a medium or witch or psychic.

It's not this pair's first published book about our local strange happenings, but it's a fun read and rather informative if you're into the darker stories of New England. 🧙‍♀️🧛‍♂️🧟‍♂️🎃
