Walter has isolated himself into a very small world of his own making, much to his detriment. Will he broaden his horizons? Will he finally find love?
"Today Walter headed up the stairs to work on a recording of an arrangement he’d written for Veteran’s Day. But as he climbed his thirteen steps, it seized him, this feeling of longing. He realized in his ascension, that he had come up to the attic to find love. He had it. “I know I did.”, he thought to himself. “It’s got to be around here somewhere."
Marcus Holmes is a classically trained musician and often draws from his experience in musicianship when writing. An M.A. in education and decades of experience teaching has informed the composition of his How-To resources. He resides in the U.S. with his tabby cat Solace, who refuses to take dictation and is a terrible speller anyway.
After reading Marcus Holmes books of poems and then his “How to Write Poetry”, I was curious to read yet another gen’re of his writing, a novel, “Don’t Eat the Garnish”. I am so glad I did. Mr. Holmes humor and knowledge of a number of subjects displayed in his characters is fun and interesting. I found myself thinking about Walter and his friends long after putting down the book. I encourage you to treat yourself to this light read about a group of young adults in their struggles through relationships, romance and discovery of who they are. Patty Silva
Don't Eat the Garnish was a fun read. I quickly connected with Walter and enjoyed reading how he and his friends would figure out how to manage their relationships. I recommend this book because of what one can learn about the intricacies of interactions between friends. I kept wondering what Walter lost that he was looking for.
I felt really had fun writing this book, and I hope that others will enjoy its light playful jaunt. I've been asked how much is based on my own life, and I can tell you that I do live in the greater Cleveland area, I am a trumpter, I am painfully introverted, and I do have a rehearsal space up stars in my converted attic. Oh, and I have an adorable cat.
I loved this book! It's quirky and unique and funny and romantic. I saw the one-star rating and I don't get it. I didn't catch any misspellings. Easy read, and lots of fun. The characters were wonderful.
Unable to finish due to a drastically excessive amount of editing mistakes. Certainly, I understand a few can be easily missed but this is extreme, to the point that it distracts from the reading experience. Recommend author consider using a professional team to assist with production.
