As an introduction to Mandarin for the child who might already be speaking a little of the language, or exposed to it, and who you might want to have them get introduced to some of the characters, this is a great little book--the illustrations are watercolors, and very pretty (but not bold colored or well suited for the very young)--the content is things you would find in Hong Kong, and it is written at the level of mid-grammar school in terms of interesting content.
