Where There's Smoke

Playing with Fire

Rate this book
Blayze Jenson knew from the time she was big enough to walk around in her daddy’s boots that she wanted to be just like him—a fire fighter—when she grew up.

While her family supported her dream wholeheartedly, there were others who made fun of her and doubted her ability to succeed in such a male-dominated profession. One person being Colton Burns, Blayze’s nemesis since childhood.

With extensive training and lots of will-power and determination, Blayze landed a position with the Gorman Valley Fire Department where she worked her way up through the ranks. Now that Captain has been added to her name badge, she’s finally happy with where she is in life. Or is she? Seems there’s one thing still missing…a man.

When a trip back home presents Blayze with an opportunity to take her career even further, Blayze can’t help but wonder if she’s ready for the next challenge. Can she prove to the town she left a long time ago, to those that doubted whether she was cut out for such a demanding role, that she’s the right one for the position?

Will she finally be able to convince Colton Burns that playing with her heart is just as dangerous as playing with fire?

Ever since Blayze Jenson was a little girl she always knew that she wanted to be a fire fighter when she grew up. But everyone doubted that she would succeed in a profession that is mostly all men. Her family was supportive of her dreams but others mocked her and doubted that she would become a firefighter and that included Colton Burns. With an extensive amount of training and lots of will-power, hard work and determination Blayze lands a position with the Gorman Valley Fire Department where she worked her way up through the ranks but some news has her returning home. When home she runs into Colton and sparks start to fly between these two. Will Blayze give Colton a chance? Will they get there happily ever after? Read this book to find out what happens between Colton and Blayze.

The perfect read to get me through a storm!

Blayze and Colt have enough chemistry to burn up these pages but will old hurts stop Blayze from truly following her heart.

A hot read that hit the spot perfectly, in more ways than one. Both characters were perfectly relatable and made the story a easy read but still made my heart race and my temperature soar!

Talk about playing with fire. I love the strong, determined woman Blayze is and how she keeps pushing through even when she's told she can't do something. It's inspiring. However, there's enough fire between her and Colton that even she can't put out. Their chemistry is explosive and I loved reading how they both had to grow out of their childhood hate.

This is a great short enemies-to-lovers book! Blayze and Colton certainly had a tumultuous story from when they were younger but as adults Blayze is drawn to grown up Colton while still harboring resentment from their childhood. Being that it's short there isn't a lot of drama but the author for as much as she could in!! This book is a quick read that will have you living these two in the end!! Colton definitely belongs on my harem!

Aptly names Blayze wanted to be a firefighter just like her dad. Colton was a pretty boy student leader, much like his father the mayor

In the way of foolish boys who don’t grow up, Colton taunted her relentlessly- even in high school

When her Fire Chief dad is ready to retire, Blayze comes back to town, and finds a different way to spend much of her weekend

Changing relationships between parents and kids, unexpected twists and surprises

Fun girl power story

I found this to be a super quick and easy read. I loved the determination and fire that Blayze had as child and into adulthood. I loved that she achieved the dreams that others didn’t think she could. Enemies to lovers is one of my favorite troupes and I think this one was a perfect clean version of it.

Blayze is a firefighter with a childhood enemy named Colton. He always teased her about not being strong enough to become a firefighter. Now Blayze is back home with the opportunity to show everyone she can do her job. Colton may just find how the sizzle between them can turn them to ashes. A good enemies to lovers read.

I absolutely loved Blayze and Colton! Blayze was a kick a** heroine who didn’t take crap from anyone...especially her childhood nemesis. But life threw them back together after many years and they couldn’t deny the fire that was burning between them. This was a sweet, sexy read and I can’t wait to read more from this author.

Blayze and Colton were enemies since grade school and she couldn’t wait to leave town when she graduated. Ten years later she had made it to Captain in her firehouse. Now she was heading home for her father’s retirement party from fire chief. One thing led to another and her and Colton ended up together Then things just spiral out of control from there. Blayze and Colton have a fun and exciting journey to their HEA

Blayze and Colton have a rocky past. Blayze sticks to her guns and becomes the exceptional firefighter she always knew she could be. This is a unique story with a cute small town setting. The story jumps a little bit. Overall the story is enjoyable.

A short quick read that hooks you right from the start. Colton and Blayze didn't like each other much when they were younger but as adults it's a whole other thing. Loved their story.

Playing with Fire was a fun story to write.

I loved creating Blayze's character. Even though she was a very strong, confidant woman, there was still a soft side to her. She was a daddy's girl, first and foremost, but there was no stepping on her toes. Blayze took pride in her job and she respected everything about, including the fact that she held a very high position for a firefighter.

When Blayze is reunited with Colton, her nemesis when she was growing up, you can't help but hope these two put aside their frustrations from long ago. There's definitely chemistry but considering their past, is there a chance for something more?

I hope you enjoy my contribution to The Girl Power Romance Collection and you'll check out the other stories throughout the year. Girl Power Rocks!

Blayze grew up saying she was going to be a firefighter like her dad.She had a crush on Colton until he made fun of her for wanting to be a firefighter. Now years later they meet at her fathers retirement gala. Later things get hot an heavy but will things be just the same Colton making her feel like hell.?There are so many twists and turns to this story will keep you riveted until the very last page and leave you begging for more.I love the way this amazing author brings the characters to life before your eyes and makes you feel their emotions and their pain.I can hardly wait to see what;s next by this multi talented author.
