The Ugly Monster Matchmaker Company

Rate this book
If you're a troll, orc, or ogre looking for love, there's one man who can make your wildest wishes come true. Gideon Maximilian Scarborough, co-owner of The Ugly Monster Matchmaker LLC, devotes his life to turning ghastly creatures into savagely attractive humans. His magic can chisel a chin, remove warts, and turn a snout into a beautiful schnoz. With his trusty dwarf sidekick, Becky, Gideon scours the globe in search of desperate clients. One such client is Gia, a wood sprite who's fallen hopelessly in love with a prince. At Gia's request, Gideon mixes a potion to make Prince Charming fall head over heels in love with her... but it all goes horribly wrong. As a result of Gideon's meddling, a princess is obsessed with him, a mad king wants him dead, and his greatest secret is Gideon's not just the owner of The Ugly Monster Matchmaker Company... he's also a client. The Ugly Monster Matchmaker Company is a little bit Shrek, a little bit steampunk, and full of fantastical creatures. Content Some mild language, violence, and comic mischief. ~Light-hearted Romp
~This story was thoroughly enjoyable to read. I was looking for something light to read, something a little bit different…this book definitely filled to requirements.
~It is a well written story. The plot moves right along, not getting bogged down in minute details or unnecessary sub-plots. Some of the story’s outcome is predictable…however there are ample surprises.
~There is character development and growth. The main character, Gideon Maximilian Scarborough, is not all that he seems upon the readers first meeting of him…there is more, much more, to him.
~This was one of those books with a truly happily ever after endings. It was a delight to read.
~I’d recommend this book to anyone remotely interested in fantasy, myths, D&D, romance, elves and fairies-or any number of woodland fantasy beings. BUT, one does not need to be a geek to enjoy this book…it is simply put; a delightful, fun, romp through a fantasy life.

This is the funniest and most amazing book I have read in quite a while and I enjoyed reading every line till the last one. Gideon, the Duke of Fafferley, is a wizard who owns the Ugly Monster Matchmaker Company whereby clients come to him for love potions or to be turned from monsters to humans in order to find love. Gideon offers his services for coin, which not all of his clients can afford so some he brokered a deal with, they would work for him on his airship till they could afford his service. Becky, the young dwarf was one such and Groop the orc soon joined her. Gideon did his best by his clients who varied from a wood sprite, a dryad, a naga, a merman and many more however sometimes the potions did not work as intended, or on who they were intended for, and that is where the fun began. He ended up getting both the Princess and Prince on his airship with their loved ones or their mix ups, as well as getting into the King's bad books because of freeing his wife's daughter from his dungeon, and all aboard ended up being shot down by the king's own airship fleet. This book is hilarious, and such a fun read, it was like a break from all my other books which I wished would not come to an end. The banter between the characters is so funny and makes for great light hearted reading, however there is also some deep philosophical thought in this book too. Thoughts about expectations, prejudice, and the fact that real love triumphs no matter what. Enjoy, I sure did!

A fun read with awesome characters.

A fun filled escape following a dashing Duke as he endeavors to solve the question of love for the ugly blessed monster, provided they can pay his fee of course.
