We really did have to run over three miles every day, after school, before practice and, as a team while running on that September afternoon, we witnessed the terrible accident that took the life of a six year old girl. The driver of the red Mustang was drunk. The girl's name was Tasha. For the purpose of this book, I changed her last name to Syawla. 'Syawla' is 'Always' spelled backwards. I knew then that I would always remember her. I would have done anything to go back to change the events of that tragic day.
