Full disclosure: I personally know the author. Also, I read this here and there between other books, but it's a slim volume of only about 130 pages. All that said, I didn't know about the five Tibetan Rites. I don't know that I'm ready to start a practice of them, but all of the information leading up to the Rites themselves was very interesting. To write a brief book about a complex and ancient practice is a difficult task, but the author was able to provide context and relevant information to give a foundation to these beliefs. My favorite part of the book actually was Chapter 6: More Practices for Rejuvenation. This chapter was not necessarily part of the Tibetan Rites but was adjacent to the idea of them. It focuses on mindfulness with easy, everyday things that you can do RIGHT NOW to bring yourself more calmness, more thoughtfulness, and ultimately, shift your thoughts for a better life. So much of what was contained in this chapter really resonated with me, and I plan to revisit the practices therein often.

A helpful primer, though my fussy brain wished there were more primary sources and fewer hyperlinks or derivative sources cited.
