A thoroughly enjoyable read, “Cowboy Honor”, by Michelle Beattie (Tule Publishing), is as much a romance as a story about family bonds and conflict, hurt, forgiveness and reconciliation.
On the one hand, I liked that the angst between the couple is minimum, although they have a lot of uncertainty to overcome, and, on the other hand, I found the family drama (on both sides) very interesting and well written.
I found Hudson a great male character, steady, reliable, sensible, so sure of his feelings once he becomes aware of them. I loved the solid support he provides the heroine even as she’s so understandably insecure about their relationship. Avery is going through very hard times and is in a fragile state, and it’s great to have a hero who is so protective and has all that “calm reassurance”.
What I absolutely loved were the scenes with Hudson interacting with his daughter; there is something heartwarming about a tough military man, inexperienced with babies, being so tender, possessive and efficient with a baby.
Although the chemistry between Hudson and Avery wasn’t that much developed and baby Jenna plays a huge part in reuniting them, I liked to watch how romance blossoms between them.
Family plays a big role in the “Tangled up in Texas” series, with its good and bad moments, and I liked the interactions between siblings and parents and the message of love, reconciliation and forgiveness, despite all the hurt that lingers.
