This time he wants it all…

Hudson Granger’s family has been estranged since he was a boy. Sixteen years later, not much is different. Or so he thought. After an eighteen-month deployment, he arrives home to his family’s Texas ranch and is shocked by how much life has changed. His brothers are mending fences and have found love. Their father is slowly recovering from a massive heart attack. The kick to Hudson’s chest—learning he has an infant daughter.

Nurse Avery Collins never planned on telling Hudson their vacation fling had resulted in a child. He’d made it clear he wasn’t looking for anything serious, and after her dad ran out on her and her family, she didn’t want to rely on a man for anything. But when her daughter has a serious health scare, Avery’s hand is forced.

Despite their sizzling attraction, Avery is determined to keep Hudson at arm’s length, co-parenting only. But Hudson wants everything—a wife and a family. And he’s determined to get it.

Written beautifully leaving my heart light and my face smiling when it was over, this book had a good, steady pace so I barely noticed how quickly I was reading. The sad part? It was over too soon.

Cowboy Honor is the last book in this series, the latest Granger brother to find his happily-ever-after. And if any group of siblings deserved a happy ending, it was definitely the Granger brothers. This was Hudson and Avery's story. Let me also say that Avery was desperately in need of a happy ending as well. I'm so happy they found it in each other.

This is the fifth and final book of the Tangled in Texas series. I read book one some time ago. In that book we are introduced to the dynamic of the Grangers, and it is not a good one. These siblings, thanks to their own father and his inability to deal with his wife's terminal illness, have grown into solemn, angry men. There is a mystery revolving around the Granger patriarch that resolves at the end of book four and as a result of that deceit has Hudson dealing with finding out he is a father. A secret that was kept from him.

Since I have only read book one, and now book five, it was apparent I missed out on a lot. While Cowboy Honor can be read as a standalone, there were many references to something that happened in book four that I wish I was privy to beforehand. Having met all the Grangers in the first book, I feel like I missed out on their character developments. I was curious about them then and even more so now so needless to say, I will be back reading the other books.

This book is filled with emotions; angst, anger, frustration and betrayal being front and center. But quickly, Hudson finds himself a father and love and joy slowly shadow his other emotions. I won't go into the specifics but I will tell you this book is about trusting and forgiveness and a love that is realistic. The main protagonists did not have an easy road. Both having issues other than their co-parenting. Avery and Hudson had their own doses of father issues that were not so easily resolved. I think I can honestly say that the romance wasn't my favorite aspect in this particular book. I found myself invested with everything all at the same time.

This book was a pleasure to read and I definitely recommend it! While I did receive an advanced reading copy of Cowboy Honor, this is my honest and unbiased review and I thank you for taking the time to read it. :)

Cowboy Honor by Michelle Beattie, is the fifth story in her Tangled Up in Texas series. This book is the complicated story of Avery Collins, Hudson Granger, and their daughter Jenna. It is complicated because a mutually satisfying weekend was not supposed to result in forever feelings, or a daughter. A daughter that Hudson was unaware of until he returned from a double tour in a far away conflict. Avery, who is insanely independent, and Hudson, who immediately embraces his role as a father, struggle to find common ground for their daughter. That common ground is hard to find, because life changes are washing over them like the surf at high tide. Their siblings may call our couple stubborn or headstrong, but let us call them determined. Determined to give their daughter a better home environment than they both had.

Any Michelle Beattie written story is going to give the reader incredibly detailed characters, rich settings, and a multi-faceted storyline that is never afraid to handle a variety of tough life issues. Cowboy Honor, and the entire Tangled Up in Texas series fulfills these points beautifully. This book finalizes several questions that have been unanswered throughout this series. There are five Granger brothers, and we now have five stories. I do not spend a lot of time in Last Stand, Texas, but I will miss these five good men, and the women that they love. 5+ STARS

Received an Advance Reader Copy in exchange for a fair review
A thoroughly enjoyable read, “Cowboy Honor”, by Michelle Beattie (Tule Publishing), is as much a romance as a story about family bonds and conflict, hurt, forgiveness and reconciliation.
On the one hand, I liked that the angst between the couple is minimum, although they have a lot of uncertainty to overcome, and, on the other hand, I found the family drama (on both sides) very interesting and well written.
I found Hudson a great male character, steady, reliable, sensible, so sure of his feelings once he becomes aware of them. I loved the solid support he provides the heroine even as she’s so understandably insecure about their relationship. Avery is going through very hard times and is in a fragile state, and it’s great to have a hero who is so protective and has all that “calm reassurance”.
What I absolutely loved were the scenes with Hudson interacting with his daughter; there is something heartwarming about a tough military man, inexperienced with babies, being so tender, possessive and efficient with a baby.
Although the chemistry between Hudson and Avery wasn’t that much developed and baby Jenna plays a huge part in reuniting them, I liked to watch how romance blossoms between them.
Family plays a big role in the “Tangled up in Texas” series, with its good and bad moments, and I liked the interactions between siblings and parents and the message of love, reconciliation and forgiveness, despite all the hurt that lingers.

I’ve completely adored this series and the 5th book was just as amazing as the rest. I love how the big story line between the books spread out through them all bringing hope and change to the Granger’s as well as the women they fall for. I really enjoyed Hudson and Avery’s story, it was a long time coming and anxiously awaited as well as it was everything I hoped it would be. Though each has been betrayed and hurt by their fathers they together can work through and hope for better for their future.

This series had fantastic characters that you could relate to and root for. The setting in Last Stand was perfect (one of the best book towns ever) and the two mysteries throughout keep readers anxiously awaiting more.

I’m going to give you some good and some bad right off the bat. This story was an extremely slow start for me. I could not stand the female lead and found her to be very selfish. That made it hard for me to want to continue to read. The only reason I kept picking this book back up is because I trust this author. To be fair, I have never made it a secret that I do not like the secret baby trope. Looking back, I even guessed this book would end up a problem for me while I was reading the last book, Cowboy Tough. If you’re a fan of this trope, the beginning may not bother you as much as it bothered me. I will absolutely never agree with what Avery did and find her reasons to be lacking, but the author did have me at least understanding her mindset and finally even liking Avery.

While finding sympathy for Avery was hard for me, I adored Hudson. All of the brothers in the Tangle Up in Texas series have issues with their father, with good reason. Hudson has more reason than the rest of them in despising their dad. As soon as he found out he had a kid, he was all in. He wanted to be involved in every aspect of Jenna’s life. The good, the bad, and the stinky. He could have judged Avery much more harshly than he did. His reasons for keeping a level head and trying to take Avery’s feelings into consideration had everything to do with Jenna and how things would affect her. He was a seriously swoon-worthy lead.

The thing that helped Avery to have some redemption in my eyes had more to do with her thoughts than her actions. She quickly learned to share custody with Hudson, but she would have had to do that no matter what, that’s why her actions didn’t impress me. Soon after Hudson met Jenna, and Avery was able to see what a caring and loving father he was, she thought about how angry she would have been if the situation was reversed. She often felt guilty and apologized many times over. I usually hate being even mildly spoilerish, but it took me days to get through the first few chapters of this book because of Avery. I really want you to know that she at least knows what she did was wrong in so many ways.

With all of the baggage this story had going in, I was surprised to actually be rooting for Hudson and Avery by the end. The author somehow still conveyed amazing chemistry and a connection that was other than parenting the same child. Overall, I enjoyed this book. I’m still not a fan of the secret baby trope and probably never will be. It was hard for me to come to a conclusion on my rating. It’s written well and has some really likable characters. The fact that I had such a strong reaction to Avery speaks to the author’s talent. But I felt it was maybe overboard. There are other things Avery does along the way to really highlight how selfish she can be, not just with Hudson and Jenna. So I often felt there wasn’t continuity in her character/personality. She swung from selfish to giving a bit too widely. I knew going in this was a trope I don’t enjoy so want to be careful I’m not judging the book on that alone. I don’t feel I am. I would definitely recommend this story to those that like this trope. I really liked this series overall and couldn’t see myself skipping the last brother getting his HEA.

I received the ARC for Cowboy Honor by Michelle Beattie from Tule Publishing in exchange for an honest review. I have been looking forward to reading this book for awhile. I’ve read each book in the series at least twice and I loved every book. Book 5 is the final book of this series about the Granger brothers of Texas.

This book shares Hudson Granger’s story. We had heard about Hudson in the previous books. He has been away in the military since he was 18. His family has been suffering since his mom died many years earlier. His older brother initially stepped in to help raise his 4 younger brothers while his dad checked out on the family. None of the brothers have gotten along in the past as a result. Everyone had been estranged. The father had suffered a heart attack at the start of the series. He was brought in by an unknown young woman named Avery Collins. She disappeared Immediately and he was in a coma for weeks. Hudson returns home to find out he has an infant daughter with a woman he had a fling with while on a holiday 18 months earlier. He is also pleasantly surprised to see his brothers actually getting along. Lots had changed while he was gone.

The baby’s mother is Avery Collins who lives in San Antonio and didn’t tell Hudson about his daughter because they agreed to a no strings relationship. It was when the baby needed a surgery that Avery couldn’t afford that she called the Granger ranch looking for Hudson and got the dad. He gave her money but made her swear never to tell Hudson about the baby. Avery’s sister Shannon didn’t like that her niece wouldn’t know her dad or his family and tried to convince Avery to contact Hudson. Avery was hesitant too because their father had deserted their family due to his drinking problems and they hadn’t seen him in over 10 years. She believed all men were like her father. She finally tried to contact the Granger family again and that’s when the dad met her and suffered a heart attack. He had come prepared to buy her off so she wouldn’t try to contact Hudson.

Hudson is angry to learn his father tried to prevent him from knowing his daughter. He’s angry too at the situation with Avery. She doesn’t believe he will want to have continued contact with his daughter but he immediately sets out to show her he intends to fully participate in his daughters life. As the book progresses, Hudson takes over as his daughter’s daycare provider, going to Avery’s home each day. Avery likes to maintain control and this is difficult for her. Hudson also realized he has feelings for Avery and wants the 3 of them to be a family. The story has some twists and lots of chemistry is seen between the couple.

I am sad the series is over as it has been one of my favorites to read. I loved the way Michelle provided lots of background on the featured couple in each book plus interaction with all the brothers and their newly found partners as the series progresses. Hudson and Avery were very likable and the reader has a lot of empathy for what each has gone through. I also enjoyed reading about familiar people and places in Last Stand that have been in other books too. This is definitely a 5 star read and I highly recommend this book and the whole series.

Hudson and Avery’s love story in Cowboy Honor by Michelle Beattie, book five in her Tangled Up in Texas series, is a wonderful, emotional, and heartwarming story, featuring a vacation hook-up that led to consequences; consequences that weren’t shared with our hero until he returned from a doubled deployment.

Hudson Granger came home after an eighteen-month deployment to find that his estranged family was communicating and working together. His brothers were mending fences and have all found love. Their father was slowly recovering from a massive heart attack. The biggest shock to Hudson was learning that he has an infant daughter; a nine-month old daughter no one bothered to let him know about. It was almost like being in an alternate universe, twilight zone edition.

Avery Collins, a nurse, never planned to tell Hudson their vacation fling resulted in a child. He’d made it clear he wasn’t looking for anything serious, and after her dad ran out on her and her family, she didn’t want to rely on a man for anything. But when her daughter has a serious health scare, Avery’s hand is forced. Contacting Hudson’s family for financial help was one of the hardest things for this stubborn, independent, woman to do. But Avery would do anything for baby Jenna.

Hudson is determined to be a part of baby Jenna’s life, despite Avery’s protests. Being together they discover the magnetic attraction and sizzling chemistry they had before was still there. Avery was determined to keep Hudson at arm’s-length, having them co-parent only. Hudson had different thoughts, he wanted everything, a wife and family; and he was determined to get it. Two stubborn people, fighting for what they want, created fireworks as their sizzling chemistry and magnetic attraction connected.

Ms. Beattie wrote a wonderful, heartwarming and emotional story that is definitely not to be missed. She provided a tale rich with sizzling chemistry, authentic conversations, and charming characters giving Hudson a chance to prove to Avery that she can trust him and take a chance on a life together. I highly recommend Cowboy Honor to other readers.

This is Avery Collins and Hudson Granger's story.
I’m here, he texted once he stood between the outside door and the locked interior one.
Avery had asked him ahead of time to text rather than ring the buzzer.
They’d scheduled his arrival to be while the baby slept, giving them time to talk a bit before Jenna woke from her nap.
he was, parked in front of a simple four-story walk-up in San Antonio, Texas, sweating as though he were back in Iraq, despite the AC blowing through the vents.
At least in the Middle East, he’d known what to expect: anything and everything, and he always braced for the worst.
This was completely different. He’d never been so far out of his element.
Cowboy Honor by Michelle Beattie is a 3 star book.

Cowboy Honor is a Tangled Up in Texas book that I have been eager to read ever since I finished reading the last book, Cowboy Tough by Michelle Beattie. US solider Hudson Granger has found out that he is a father of a nine month old little girl. Something others had kept from him. Now he is determined to be part of her life. That is the kind of hero that I can love in a story.

I understood Nurse Avery Collins’ reluctance to allow Hudson in little Jenna’s life was more a trust issue for her own heart not to be broken. There is plenty of family drama in this book but the parents of Jenna always wanted to put her welfare first. Hudson and Avery have so much baggage from their individual families that it becomes part of the story too.

While one may read this book as a stand-alone I would suggest reading the series in especially book four first to enhance the understanding and enjoyment of Avery and Hudson’s story.

An ARC of the book was given to me by Tule Publishing which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

If you have been following this series then you know that the Granger boys haven't had the greatest upbringing after their father failed to handle the death of his wife This led to the boys all going their separate ways but as this series as progressed each son has found the woman that completed them allowing them to also form family bonds This it he story of Hudson the last remaining son He has been serving in the military and has returned after his latest overseas posting To find that his brothers are all starting to bond and he has a daughter that he knows nothing about. He and Avery had a one night fling that should have meant nothing but actually led to the birth of Jenna a secret Avery had every intention of keeping until a health scare meant she had to contact Hudson. Both of these adults came from damaged childhoods and don't want the same for their daughter but will that stop them from admitting what is growing between them Can two stubborn independent people admit what they really want and claim it You will have to read to see

Cowboy Honor is the fifth book in Michele Beattie’s Tangled Up In Texas series, which is set largely in the fictitious town of Last Stand. It reads well as a stand-alone but if you’ve read the first four books, all enjoyable, you’ll have a much richer reading experience with this one as the secondary characters have all had a part in bringing the overall story arc to this point. That said, this is a lovely story of forgiveness and trust starring two people who have done it tough and survived but have yet to learn what it means to give yourself wholly to another person. I loved Hudson pretty much as soon as he stepped onto the page. His natural approach to fathering and caring for Jenna was a joy to read. Avery took a little longer to win me over. She is such a control freak! It was fun watching Hudson breaking down her barriers and also lovely seeing how some of the secondary stories that had flowed through the series were resolved in this book. It’s been a pleasure to read.

This is the last book in the Tangled Up in Texas series or as I say the Grangers series and I am so sad. Why am I sad? I love the Grangers and I think I fell in love with Hudson Granger from the very moment he let Avery Collins and his brothers know that there was no way he was walking off on his daughter once he discovered she was in this world. He moved heaven and earth not only to be around her but to be the best father and person he could be around her and her mom too. This book has all the wonderful feel goods but it also touches on issues in both Avery and Hudson's past that make them gun shy on becoming not only a couple but on the reason Avery did not seek out Hudson from the start. This is a wonderful book and even though it's the last one for this family, I have a feeling they will pop in and out in Last Stand from time to time in other books. Oh, one can only hope.

A welcome addition to the Tangled Up in Texas series.

Eighteen months ago, Hudson Granger lost his best friend. To numb the pain, he hooked up with Avery Collins, a girl he met on South Padre Island. He never expected to see her again. But when he returned from his deployment in the middle east, he discovered Avery had his baby. Now, Hudson has his job cut out for him learning to be a father and trying to convince Avery they could be a good family together.

I enjoyed seeing how Avery and Hudson put their emotional pasts behind them in order to trust enough to give love a chance. This book answered a lot of questions I had as I read the previous books in the series. I would definitely read this series in order.

This is the final book in the Tangled Up in Texas series. I really enjoyed the series. This is Hudson's story. We learned in the previous books that he has been away on a tour of duty. It has been 18 months and now he returns home to find out he has a daughter. Not only is Avery his baby mama from a weekend hook up she is also the mystery woman who brought Hudson's dad to the hospital when he was having a heart attack. Insite of his father, Hudson steps up to be a dad to his daughter. At first Avery doesn't want to share her daughter. It seemed like she didn't expect Hudson to want to be part of his daughter's life. When she sees him with his daughter she lets him into their lives. You can't help but love Hudson and want them to make it as a couple. Great read!

Avery and Hudson

This is a beautiful story. Book number 5 in the series. The Granger brothers and the women they fall in love with. This fifth and final book beautifully wrapped up the story and the mysteries surrounding the Granger boys family and ranch. Each and every one of the brothers had a story on how they fell in love but this book was by far my favorite. The depth and intricacies of the characters are absolutely top not. This author writes beautiful stories that pull you in and grab you to the end. The only thing wrong with this story is that it ended too soon!!! I loved it!!

This was an incredible written story. It is also the fifth book in this series. This book is about Hudson and Avery. They had a one night stand resulting in Avery getting pregnant. Hudson comes back to town from his deployment only to realize he has a daughter he new nothing about. Hudson is trying to learn to be a dad while navigating his growing attraction to Avery. Their journey to happily ever after will keep you reading well into the night. I voluntarily reviewed this book in exchange for an honest review.

Great ending to a great series!

This was a great book! I hadn’t read the others recently and I wished I went back and reread. I couldn’t remember some details. So definitely I would recommend reading the whole series. Avery and Hudson both hold a lot of pain that often left me with tears in my eyes. But all ended in a great hea!!

This one started off strong and went kinda downhill for me. It simply didn’t keep my interest as I expected it would. I also felt a tiny bit lost since I hadn’t read the previous stories in this series. I might have liked it more if I didn’t go into this one thinking it was a standalone.

Loved this addition to the Tangled Up in Texas series. I’ve been waiting for Hudson’s story & wasn’t disappointed. The mystery around the father’s heart attack & coma has come to an end & Hudson is directly in the middle. His life is also turned upside down when he learns he has a daughter from a weekend get away. Now he has to decide what to do with his military career & how he can prove to Avery that she & their daughter Jenna are his priority. Loved seeing all the brothers back together & we finally get Roy’s story as well. I’m hoping that there might be a follow up to let us know how things turn out for the Granger families, as well as Roy & Janice. Definitely recommend. Thank you to Tule publishing for letting me read this book for an honest review.
