When Harper flags a message on the back-channel system that leads to a couple on the run and wanted for mass murder the crew isn't sure what to do. The problem is, Carbon recognizes Alicette from her time with the Viperidae, and getting involved is going to bring them directly into conflict with Bosh. Bosh doesn't leave loose ends.
There's more to this story than anybody knows, and the crew of the Kingfisher may be in for their most dangerous mission yet, if they're willing to commit to seeing it through. Well. It's not like they've walked away from a fight before, is it?
This was so disappointing after the other 3 fantastic books! The writing feels rushed, the ending is a cliff hanger and has soo many holes in it! the characters go out of their character trait. I am hoping for a 5th book to tie up some of this loose ends.
This series goes from strength to strength. It doesn’t matter the length of time between books. For me, the characters pull me through the story. It has plenty of action and intrigue and definitely twists in the plot.
I can’t recommend this series enough. Could be read as a stand-alone but best if you read in sequence, to get the full flavour.
I love this series but this one didn’t really have closure for this arc. A lot of struggle and then unknowns left. I do love the characters and their development but other than Avery and Carbon, there wasn’t much evolution in this one. Hope there’s another book in the series soon!
I loved The Flight of the Kingfisher, the first book of Chloe Garner‘s Carbon Chronicles series, but somehow managed to miss the release of The Journey To Verona (Book 2), The Battle of Allion Fall (Book 3) and The Redemption of Maribeth-5 (Book 4). It’s times like these when you have to live Kindle Unlimited as, having realized what I missed, I was able to rectify it in one mighty multi-day binge. My sweetie is kinda annoyed with me, as I’ve sorta ignored him while gorging on this bookly goodness, but he’ll forgive me and it simply had to be done. These books were just too superbly (abs addictively) fantastic. Pretty much perfectly written with great plot lines and developing story arc, perfect universe-building and perfectly crafted lead and supporting characters. Really, the short-hand review for each of these books is easy - (you guessed it): perfect. And also books that I am -perfectly - happy to highly recommend.
High speed chase ahead, with the Kingfisher crew along with Carbon and little sis Plasma for a fast paced, danger filled thrill ride.
The ambiguity of the new scientific couple creates a unique tension, even with evidence presented and of course an ethical question about what the team does based on their information.
Definitely a great read for those who love a fast paced high octane cast of characters who are all in for the ultimate good vs evil battle. The real intrigue is the ethical dilemma the Kingfisher crew faces and choices based on their data.
Wonderfully written characters, intriguing plot and an absolutely worthwhile read
I found the first quarter of the book quite tedious, the dialogue between the crew kept going around in circles and some of their reasoning was very obtuse.
I was already fed up of the petulant teenager then the author threw in the psychologically damage scientist. I got about halfway and really couldn’t workout where this book was going, apart from the moaning and arguing very little had happened so far.
In the end I realised this story wasn’t for me and the characters no longer held the interest that they did earlier in the series, a pity, as I thought they had potential.
It is a common thing among the books That I read that there are inevitably bad guys and good guys, and the Monte and Avery and there crew are sort of in the middle neither good nor bad but always tending to be on the good side of the coin. The spaceships are generally interesting in themselves as some have fully capable AI’s which I believe will be the case in reality in 20 years or so. Enjoy it’s a darn great read. Thanks Chloe Garner.
The books are quite good. And I can understand an author not bothering to finish a series if sales are tapering off - even authors have to eat. But not concluding the damn thing is cheating the readers who've followed faithfully through the series. And, by the way, paid the author for the books. If I ever buy a Garner book again, it will be one of a completed series.
I have really enjoyed this series though I think it needs one more book to end the story
I'm amazed that this author can write so many fantastic novels, I hope that She never stops writing. Her books are some of the best Entertainment I have read and worth the time to read them. Thank you for a very fun entertaining read.
